The Munro Fold
The Munro Fold was established in 1994 by Judy Bruerton and is situated at "Ashlea" on Dixons Road, 8 kilometres from Rangiora, North Canterbury.
The fold was started from using purebredd embryos. Since then full-blooded animals have benn purchased and used for breeding. The bloodlines purchased have been throughly researched so that there are different bloodlines which go back to Scotland.
The Characteristics of Highland Cattle make them a very pleasing animal to own and look after.
They are most sttractive to look at with their hairy coats and distinctive horns. They have a gentle nature, easy calving ability, they are excellent mothers, are adaptable to climate and need little health care. They live to a good old age (16 + years) and cross with other breeds for commercial purposes.
They provide excellent beef, low in fat and cholesterol, which is succulent and has superb flavour.
The aim of the Munro Fold is to produce high quality stock for breeding purposes, pleasing to the eye and quiet to handle.
Vistors are welcome by appointment only.
