Discussion of the Liguus fasciatus spp.
The fasciatus is widespread throughout the main Island of Cuba, the
offshore keys and Isla de Pinos (the largest offshore key / island south of Cuba).
The following is a synopsis of information on these Liguus;
type locality, holotype or paratype depository and publication of description.

Liguus fasciatus sanctispiritensis Guitart 1945 -
Type locality: Loma Caja de Agua, Finca las Delicias, Tuinucú, Sancti Spiritus,
Province of Las Villas, Cuba.

Comment: The Clench catalog is in error. L.f. tigre Ledon 1944 is
L.f. tigrae Alcalde 1944.
Liguus fasciatus torrei Clench 1934 -
Type locality: Punta del Este, Isla de Pinos, Cuba.
Holotype: Museum of Comparative Zoology (Harvard) MCZ 58,805.

Comment: The L.f. torrei is not restricted to Isla de Pinos, it is also found on
the mainland near Ensenada de Corrientes in westernmost Pinar del Rio.
It is not abundant on Isla de Pinos. The specimen shown above,
from Isla de Pinos, is thought to be Ex-Carlos de la Torre collection.
