Discussion of the Liguus flammellus spp.
The locality of the flammellus is at the westernmost province of the island, Pinar del Rio, specifically in the Valle de Viņales. The valley has unique rocky outcroppings called mogote. The mogote is like a small island reaching up from the valley floor. Some of the vegetation and animal life are endemic to the mogotes. Some fauna is endemic to only one mogote, this includes some of the molluscan fauna. Most if not all the mogotes are named after farms, people, etc.
