THE ROLE OF STRESS IN THE APPEARANCE OF PCNSL (PRIMARY CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM LYMPHOMA) IN PATIENTS WITH TOXOPLASMOSIS

Kountouris Dimitrios

Background: The role of stress in the appearance of brain tumors   and in general the malignance syndrome has been reported many times. Here we present a case of a patient with toxoplasmosis on whom we observed the appearance of PCNSL after an intense stress attack.

Case report: A 58 year old male patient suffering from toxopalsmosis had some disturbances periodically in the back side of his left eye. The clinical and radiological examination did not show anything pathological during the period of 8 months. In the patient `s  last examination, one month before his death, the levels of toxoplasmosis in his blood were significantly reduced . After an intense  stress attack and  increased psychokinetic activity the patient developed a brain tumor parietoxypytal in his left side. The stereotactic  biopsy showed  that it was  PCNSL. Despite the fact that the patient  had received intense treatment, he passed away.

Conclusion: This case indicates the major role of stress attacks  in the pathogenesis of PCNSL
