El pasado 13 de Febrero, se
dieron cita 52 grupos procedentes de Europa incluando 'Los Girasoules'
de Espana e Iberoamérica y un público aventurero en lo alto de la
Cordillera de los Andes. Tras un descenso de un kilómetro y medio,
llegaron al lugar donde se desarrolló el Festival de Rock a lo largo de
cuatro días: El cráter del Volcán Pululahua.
La belleza natural del Volcán, en reposo desde hace más de 4000 años,
unida a la cartelera de artistas cautivaron al público, a los mismos
artistas y a los medios de comunicación que tuvieron la sensación de
haber vivido un momento único, mágico, en la historia del Rock'n'Roll.
La organización de este evento supuso para los organizadores una lucha
sin tregua con el Gobierno y ciertos grupos ecologistas. Sólo el
esfuerzo y la perseverancia del organizador, Ricardo Perotti, hicieron
posible este acontecimiento sin precedentes. Los artistas le
describieron en términos muy elogiosos tanto por la complejidad del
proyecto como por el perfecto desarrollo del mismo. La cuidada
iluminación y la excelente acústica natural del Volcán supusieron el
éxito del Festival que se celebró respetando el medio ambiente en uno de
los lugares más inaccesibles del planeta.
Overview: The Pululahua Volcano
- Pululahua is 4000 year old dormant volcano located just two miles
from the centre of the world, the monument to the Equinox. It is one
of only two populated craters in the World with the Incas, the
Dominican Monks and the indigenous guasipungueros amongst its
inhabitants.
- The Geobotanical Reserve was declared a National Park in 1969 and
the Ecuadorian Institute of Forest Areas and Wild Life (INEFAN),
gives protection to more than 53 botanical and 21 animal species.
The Festival: Rock From The Volcano
- 52 National and International bands played original Rock, Pop,
Funk, Ska, Hip Hop, Trance and Punk.
- Overview of 30 years of Latin American Rock, from its Argentinian
origins in 1969 to the Rock Pululahua Festival in 1999.

biggest rock’n’roll names.
