Mr. Grubb=s
Resource Lab
Van Buren Elementary
Dear
Parents,
The Fifth Grade has worked to learn multiplication of
two and three digit numbers by two digit numbers. They are working with addition of fractions with common and
different denominators greater than one and less than nine. They are learning to convert fractions to
decimals. This allows the student to
become more efficient at problem solving.
The fifth grade is solving problems using multiplication of numbers and
the placement of decimals in the answer.
The students have constructed a tangram. The math lab allows students to work on
current class objectives while expanding and becoming more efficient at problem
solving.
The fifth grade is constructing and studying the
properties of triangle. They calculate
the perimeter and square area of triangles.
During the first part of the semester we constructed triangular
pyramids. We are currently constructing
cubes, calculating the area, and volume.
I am in the process of constructing a web page for
students to do math on line. Mr. Grubb=s
Virtual Classroom can be found on the Van Buren School Home page. The Kindergarten page is complete if your
child would like to use it.
Sincerely,
Mr.
Grubb
