Mr. Grubb=s Resource Lab

Van Buren Elementary

Dear Parents,

The Fourth Grade class has worked to master the mathematic algorithm of three, seven, and nine.  They are working to understand and apply place value by writing numbers in standard and expanded form.  The students are learning to divide two and three digit numbers by one digit divisors.  They are learning to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators which range from one to nine.  The students engage in problem solving situations that require the student to decide which operation to use in a one and two step problem.

We dedicate part of the class time to complete the lessons from math class.  We want the students to remain on grade level with math work as well as learning skills that make their math skills stronger and more efficient.

We are constructing tangrans that unfold into a circle.  This is a unique problem solving process using patterns to problem solve.

I am in the process of constructing a web page for students to do math on line.  Mr.  Grubb=s Virtual Classroom can be found on the Van Buren School Home page.  The Kindergarten page is complete if your child would like to use it.

Sincerely,

Mr. Grubb
