Eddy Merckx Columbus TSX
1993 Team Weinmann bike

This is my new bike. I got it on ebay for $999.

The below is taken from the eBay ad:

This amazing bike is New Old Stock. Frame and all parts are new. Bike has never been ridden. Doesn't appear that pedals have ever been threaded on the cranks. Pro shop that built it placed stickers on the rims... in the area that the brake pads hit. Rear stickers are untouched... Fronts are a bit scuffed (probably from people spinning the wheel and hitting the brakes).

Specs: 54cm (c-c) Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra Frameset built with Columbus TSX tubing. Top tube is 56cm center to center. Frame was custom built for a pro or neo pro team in Belgium. Frame also has a number plate hanger which is only put on team bikes.

Components:

Edco Competition Cranks (Campagnolo NR bolt pattern) 41-53 172.55mm Swiss made, very pretty cranks.

Edco Competition BB, Edco Competition Headset, Edco Competition Derailleurs and shifters (rear indexed, made by Sachs/Huret). New Sedis chain.

Weinmann NRB 499 sidepull brakes. A really nice quality sidepull set with hidden, internal springs.

Flite saddle (used) with Titanium rails (pictures show an Avocet saddle. It has been changed - see new image). Seatpost manufacturer unknown. TTT Ergo Power bars and TTT stem 12.5cm Eddy Merckx etched on both sides (see image)

Wheels: Fir Rialto Aero clinchers in beautiful shape (they're new!) with Wolber tires and a Shimano 8 Spd cogset. Indexing doesn't appear to be adjusted correctly... a job for the new owner.

Frame (top tube and chainstay) and wheels have stickers from the pro shop the bike came from originally... Rijweilen Godefroot or Fietsen Godefroot owned by the famous Belgian rider and Directeur Sportif of Deutsche Telekom, Walter Godefroot. As I said before the stickers on the wheels are in the braking plane. Don't ask me why the mechanics put them there...

Paint scheme is quite attractive, there are a few chips. Seat binder bolt (the only Campagnolo part on the bike!) has chipped most of the paint off at that area. Tip of seat lug is chipped and there are two on the down tube, one on the left seatstay and a few on the fork. Chrome is perfect.

This is a beautiful and unusual Merckx bike.
