WOLF 359
LONDON SCI-FI CONVENTION

The 'Techie' Crew dress suitably for the party!

One of the posse members, Avril Cullen, managed to acquire a fantastic promotion opportunity for us on the 3rd/4th July, 1999. Due to the high percentage of science-fiction actors in the show, we were given permission to advertise the show at a popular science-fiction convention in Heathrow, London. Wolf 359 run conventions for over 1000 people and we not only managed to get permission to advertise at the con but we also made fans of the show out of Wolf 359’s organizer, Brian and his wife (amongst others).

I wrote to John Watson to let him know about the convention and the European Campaign. John, who is English, was thrilled and wrote back immediately sending his support and his authorization for us to air publicly the pilot episode. He also included a tape of a five-minute advert for the show, which had never aired on television. It had been designed purely for the network bosses not the public, which gave us a great exclusive. At the convention we managed to impress the technical crew so much that they turned up to the fancy dress that night (4th of July after all) as cowboys not sci-fi characters.
