I was in Muenchen on Sat, November 20th with two friends. We went there and back in the same day, and each trip took six hours!!! We used a cheap ticket which we could share which meant we had to use the slower regional trains. On the way there I started talking to some guys who were on their way to see a soccer match between Germany's best and most famous club, Bayern Muenchen, and Freiburg (another city in the south). They told me that they had two extra tickets and that they would sell me one for the cover price! They had good seats close to the field for only DM 28!! I first I thought I shouldn't just throw away DM 28, but then I reminded myself that I was being presented with the chance to see one of the world's best clubs in one of the world's greatest stadiums for a very good price! By the time I got off the train, I was the very proud owner of a ticket for the day's game.

I had some time before the game to visit the Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady - shown here) and the central market square in Muenchen with my friends before I ditched them to go to the game.

Here is the tower of the Rathaus (City Hall) in the square.

Muenchen had even more snow than Karlsruhe, and it was quite cold by German standards in the stadium (-2 C). We did have really sunny weather though, and the sun really lit up the BMW headquarters nicely. The stadium is about a five minute walk from the BMW building.

The game itself was amazing, a LOT of goals. Bayern won the match 6-1. All seven goals were terrific; there weren't any penalty shots. Bayern's goals came from Jeremies, Matthäus, Sergio, Jancker (2), and Zickler. Here is a shot of the crowd celebrating a Bayern goal.

It was exciting to see some former and current international players like Matthäus, Effenberg, Jeremies, Babbel, and Tarnat play. Bixente Lizarazu, who plays for France, is also on the Bayern club but was injured and unfortunately didn't play. The score is 2-0 here in the first half. You can see snow next to the field in the bottom right of the picture.

Early in the second half, a Bayern player (I think Babbel) received his second yellow card of the match and was ejected. At that point the score was 3-1, and Bayern still managed to score three more goals!! There were 46 000 fans at the game, although the stadium holds about 63 000.
