PSV
had a huge task taking on 3rd place Newcastle United, and got off to a flying
start when Vicente shimmied his marker and struck in a 4th minute opener for PSV
by volleying in Alex's free kick. Before long PSV doubled their lead, DaMarcus
Beasley used his pace and skill to dance round Steven Carr and slide the ball
into Givens right hand post, PSV 2 up with just 7 minutes played. Andy Johnson
pulled Newcastle square to 2-2 with 2 easy tap ins. Alan Shearer and James Milner
linking up through the centre, before Shearers square ball across goal was met
by Johnson to put in from 4 yards. The equaliser came in similar fashion this
time Dyer running Vicente and Titus Bramble out of the game, before playing a
ball across for Andy Johnson to again tap in for Newcastle. Peter Crouch used
his head for PSV to give them a 3-2 lead. Beasleys long ball fell onto the former
Southampton strikers head and over the 'keeper giving PSV a much deserved lead,
Beasley again involved in the goal which killed off Newcastle. A short corner
with Dietmar Hamman and a beautiful shot bounced back off the bar, and Crouch
smashed the ball into an practically vacant goal with 8 minutes to play goving
PSV their Play Off final spot.

Porto bounced back from an early season slump to earn their 5th place finish, and went on to face 6th place Spurs. One goal was enough for a determined Porto side to over come Tottenham. Juninho Pernambuchano the scorer, the Brazillian international struck from very long range and saw the ball swerve, and bounce in off the post leaving Paul Robinson standing. It could've been 1-1 with 87 minutes played, but some fantastic goalkeeping from Vitor Baia denied Robbie Keane one last Tottenham goal, the Irishman free in acres of space struck into what seemed an open goal, but Baia just managed to get across and finger tip the ball out for a corner as Porto now move on to face PSV Eindhoven in what will be a fantastic play off final.
