| Chapter 11 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The demolition crew wasn't very happy to be interrupted by a few annoying teenagers and said they weren't going to stop. So it was up to them to stop them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Isaac and Taylor quickly placed down the ornaments they were holding and ran back into Mason Mansion. The crew couldn't bring down the place with two kids inside. Zac and Sandy kept watch over the ornaments while Chantel and Joanne went for help. It took them about 20 minute to find someone who would be of any help to them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| They had found the old man from the museum. He said that he would do his best to keep the place from being destroyed, for it was the oldest house in Tulsa but he didn't think he could do much. That was good enough for the girls . They tried to hurry back to the house but the man was old and very slow. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Come on!" Joanne ordered annoyed. The man stopped and turned to Chantel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Your sister is quite rude." He remarked. Chantel agreed with him and helped him walk along faster. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It was about 6:00 am in the morning and the rain had stopped completely it was actually starting to look like summer again. The old man was taking forever. Joanne could have killed him when he started looking at the flowers by the side of the road. She decided she would leave the old man to Chantel and run on ahead to try and get the crew to stop just incase Isaac and Taylor had got caught. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| They had. Both of them. The demolition crew had several very good runners that the boys hadn't counted on. Now both boys and the twins were having their arms held on to by two of the crew's men. They were big and mean looking. Both were mad and had no intentions to let go of their arms. Zac had tried to communicate with the bulky beasts before and had only been growled and grunted at. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The house was torn down long before Chantel and Joanne returned with the old man. Only a small part of it still stood standing. The crew said they would finish the job the next day and gave the old man a lift back to his home. They did apologize for not hearing the kids out but they made it very clear that they still thought they were a bunch of rotten teenagers. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I guess you can't win every battle." Taylor was fuming and kicked a rock. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "At least we saved Kalien's diary." Chantel pointed out. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "And the ornaments." Sandy added. No one really seemed to be very much cheered up by that. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "That house has seen so much death!" Zac exclaimed. "Poor Henry and Kalien and all of them. How could they just tear down the house like that?! It could have been used again. It could have been filled with another happy family with lots of children, the way it must have been before." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Everyone sighed. A thought entered Sandy's mind. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "If that place was left for 15 years, how come it was so clean when we got there?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Everyone stopped to think. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Maybe Jacob and his son came back to clean it!" Brad suggested. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Maybe someone came in and took care of the place a little." Chantel thought. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yeah but what about the kitchen having fresh food in it?" Sandy asked again. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Maybe some poor person came in and put it there, until they could come back." Zac suggested. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Maybe, " Sandy agreed. "But don't you think that's a little unlikely. There was someone in that house with us!" Sandy concluded. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Sandy shut up!" Joanne ordered starting to get a little freaked out. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "You know that would have been a really great line to get us back in that house if that house was still there!" Taylor complained not wanting the adventure to be over. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The kids all sighed thinking the same thing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Hey!" Zac stopped in his tracks. "What about the money?" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Oh yeah!" Everyone exclaimed in unison. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "I guess we'll just have to go back and find it!" Isaac declared. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "How can we?" Joanne asked. "The place has been destroyed." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| "Yeah," Isaac agreed, "but not all of it. The basement's still there and were else would be a better place to hide $300,000, then in a basement." | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The same eerie smile came across Isaac face as it did the day before. The kids turned and ran back to the house enthusiastically, well most of them anyway. Here I go again. Sandy thought wishing he had just shut up before about there being someone in the house. Off I go on another one of Isaac's, off the wall schemes or exhilarating thrill adventure, as he likes to call them. Guess I can't win them all. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The End :) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
