Game 1 vs. Bristol |
|
We entered this game with high hopes, owing to the fact that Bristol didn't even have a Volleyball Club last year. On the down side, we were not as organised (as it was our first competitive game) as we would have liked, and, as Nigel pointed out, Bristol's team were quite useful for the division we were in. We started off well enough, getting the odd point here and there. Great enthusiasm was shown from the bench, which kept us going. Our great success was that we made more noise than the opposition. After losing the first two sets we came out fighting in the 3rd, taking it quite easily, before communication once again broke down in the 4th. We eventually lost 3-1. But no worries. THANKS TO ALL WHO CAME TO SUPPORT! And also to those who didn't get a game in. Roll on UWE! |

Game 2 vs. UWE |

How did we lose this?!?!?! Against a side more willing to head the ball back over the net we fell to bits. We did however win one set, which boosted the spirits for a bit. Nevermind, we've won a game to kick-start our BUSA season. But we lost this 3-1. |

Game 1 vs. UW Cardiff |
|
The ladies went into only their 2nd match of the season full of confidence. However, it was not rewarded as a more organised Cardiff side took the match 3-1. However, this was the ladies 1st BUSA game, and things can only get better |

A good win so I hear. We really need one of the ladies to write a match report!. 3-1. |

Game 3 vs. Bath |
|
Now I did go see this. After much singing in the minibus the ladies arrived in Bath. And quickly set about dispatching a weakened Bath squad. A 3-0 victory showed their supremecy, though it came with a scare in the 3rd set. Well done girls!. |

Game 3 vs. Southampton Institute |
|
The men travelled to Soton with a huge squad of 6 (Christian, Stefan, George, Andy, Ben and myself), slightly wary about our chances. But I had a good feeling. After a REALLY long and windy trip we arrived, though not before Ben came up with a cracker! "If you go to the North Pole, and stand on a ladder, are you further North?". Who knows Ben...one of life's little mysteries. After a quick lunch we headed for the match, only to find they had NO officials of any kind. We agreed to play them anyway (without telling their players they had lost), and won 3-0. Well played by everyone, especially George and Andy, who played a full game for the first time. Sorry we didn't get home in time George, but at least you made Andy's hands raw. |

Game 4 vs. Portsmouth |

Pretty dire apparantly...the girls lost 3-0. Never mind ladies. |

We should have won this and got through to the knockout stages. We were close to them all the way through, and just got a little frustrated towards the end. Thanks to the rugby ladies for the company on the journey home. We lost 3-1. |
