Title: Eloms...What was Decipher Thinking?
I would like to start off this article by saying that I have a dark deck I call, “Local Trouble.” It is tourney viable and it beats Asteroid Sanctuary, Droid Inserts, Mains & Toys, as well as cheese decks. For the most part it’s an all around dark deck! Except one thing. It can’t avoid an Elom deck. Those Elom’s just rip this deck apart, even with a few aliens added into it. The Elom deck consist of Eloms naturally, B’ Omar Monks, and some of the mains for backup. Yet, imagine this, what if there were no Eloms in this deck, it would be pretty much a non tournament viable deck. Why do I say that? Well, if you examine the Eloms, they can be deployed for Tatooine dirt cheep, they are power +3 at same site as Imperial, they have a destiny of 4, deploy for 3 and a forfeit of 3, with ability of 2, they are non unique, and you can retrieve force with a bunch of them on the table. Am I complaining? Heck no! But, what was Decipher thinking when they put this character together for the tournament scene. It seems to me that Decipher is forcing the dark side to play with aliens more. Now I love the aliens, but really, who plays a deck without a few Imperials. Sure the Skirlings are a decent deck. Yet, they don’t have the versatility the Eloms have. Think about it, the Eloms are power +2 at same site as Imperial. Don’t leave Vader alone, even with his Jedi powers, it won’t save him against a few Eloms with their destiny and all. Decipher should of had a limit. Maybe 3 at a time on the table or lower destiny, maybe even change there ability. It seems to me that all this card did was reinforce the insert strategy. Allot of new players leave the game because of this. Don’t get me wrong inserts are great, but they need to be calmed toned down a little on there potential power. Even if the opponent has a particular deck, and that’s what it takes, is a particular deck to beat Eloms, they with the combo of Monks will eventually out drain you, out insert you, out destiny you, and finally out character you. So much for a fun card called, “Ability, Ability, Ability.” Did you see the Eloms in the movie? They were there for a brief moment, but wait Jawas were there throughout the first movie. What I am saying is that Jawas had more exposure to the sun and they are still not tourney viable, but here comes a hidden character, the Elom whom has more potential to be tourney viable. Something is definitely wrong there. So I will conclude this by saying, “Eloms are nothing more than, “A Shot In The Dark.”
