Title: Mega Tournament II in Huntington Beach California

This tournament was one you can not miss out on. When we saw the promotion for it on Decipher's site for the first time. We knew we had to go. Day 1 on Saturday the first place prize was 6 UNCUT Limited Premiere Sheets. Plus the top eight also gets great looking trophy's. Day 2 was the team event where there was a special Team trophy plus each team member gets a trophy. Not to mention the winning team has some bragging rights. With this before us, and the fact it was being held only in California a group form here, Las Vegas, Nevada, decided to go. We started with 5 people going to go, to only 3 going. We were a little concerned playing with only 3 Team members during the Team event. But we thought we were ready anyway.

It was Chris Hines, Ted Hansen, and myself(Tim Guzman), who went to the Mega Tournament. We woke up Saturday morning around 4:00 AM. And hit the rode at about 5:00 AM to be there on time. We were tired, but we felt ready(as long as we didn't eat meat, you had to be there). The performance of all three of us was excellent. Both days we left that place making sure they will not forget about the 'Vegas Stike Team'. This report will only be on the games I did on Day 1. I will say how Ted and Chris did as far as their ranking, but of course I can not do a Game by game play for them. Aereport on Day 2 will follow this one.

This is the day. The day for the 6 UNCUT sheets of Limited Premiere for whoever comes in first!! We knew it was going to be tough this day when we showed up. There was a lot of tough players there and there was 8 GAMES to play. So it wasn't going to be easy. Here is what I faced to come in FIRST PLACE. Yes that is right I now have the coveted 6 uncut sheets. I do not have a deck listing with this report, but I will post the Decks I played in a couple of days so check back. Just so you know, my Dark was Hunt Down and my Light had Mains and Toys.

Game 1
My Dark Side vs Nick Boll's All around deck His Rating 1500

It was this kids first tournament and he had Attack Run in his deck. So that pretty much says what happened in this game. I was being as nice as possible showing him many things on what to do in the game. Nice kid he will catch on quick I am sure of it. Ted and Chris both won Game 1 also.
Full Win by 39 Total: 2(+39)

Highlights: Nothing really much to say accept that was on game down.
Lowlights: Being really tired from lack of sleep. I should be getting my second wind soon.

Game 2
My Light Side vs Travis Frazier? Musician Deck...rating:1902

This deck is a fun deck to play it has basically mains in it. I was ready for anything this person could throw at me. He started with Tatooine Jabba Palace and Expand the Empire. At first I was thinking he was playing a manipulator deck so I started with Scramble Transmission. Boy was I wrong. He was playing Dark side Musicians Deck. I found out a little too late. In fact even now I can not believe I lost so bad to this deck. No offense Travis, you definitely beat me out right, and you caught me by surprise with that beat douwn. But still musicians? I have Leia and EPP Han together against a few of those musicians. I had no worries, then all of the sudden he has this character who can move one person away depending on how many Musicians he has at the site. So he moved Leia away and Han was only against Massive power guys. I had no Houjix in my hand :( I had to lose Han plus 24 cards. Game over.
Full Loss by 30 Total: 2(+9)

Highlights: Ummm nothing...oh wait I got my one loss out of the eay. That was me being optimistic.
Lowlights: Losing by 30 really brought me down. I didn't think I had a chance after this , but...

Game 3
My Light Side Vs Ross Touriel's Hunt Down...Rating 1448

Ross was a young kid around 11 years old. But he knew his stuff. I have never seen anyone so young yet play so well. I was losing from Visage the whole game. He also had a steady drain of 4 going. I have a pretty bad draaw to start, but soon I was able to stop one of the drains with of Course Epp's. When I was ready I drop Obi-Wan down and I knew he was going to Duel him. I was able to win the duel so that sealed my victory.
Full Win by 16? Total: 4(+25)

Highlights: Winning in a duel against Vader.
Lowlights: Suffering from Visage the whole game.

Game 4
My Dark Vs James Lafferty's Droid+Plans+Inserts...Rating 1983

I had Vader at his Y4 Throne room draining for 4 with presence on turn 2. He had 2 droids deployed with a numbers in my deck by turn 2 also. I had a Torture for the first number card and was forced to use it after I activated the very next turn. After that I set up a ship in space so I won't need to activate anymore. But somehow he gets another number card in and I don't have any Tortures in hand. I am thinking I won't run into the cards with a small acivation, but I do after only 5 cards. I take a 7 card damage, but no more. After that I always had a Torture in my hand. I had visage working the whole game and was draining for a total of 8. I altar his DSP so I make sure he isn't able to come back in the game. He did kill one of my Vader's with a Epp Hit Squad, but I was able to deploy another. I was about to Duel Luke when He deployed him, but I knew he had some really high Destiny Draws in his deck.
Full Win by 17? Total: 6(+42)

Highlights: Winning against a good Numbers deck and a good player.
Lowlights: Losing 7 cards from an Epp Hit squad and losing 7 cards from an insert.

Game 5
My Light Side Vs I think Bottomley was his name ISB...Rating: 1748

He was playing his game really good. I was a little worried about making a mistake with Obe. I force with him and he made him missing. So he was missing the whole game which kind of sucked. He was also force draining in space and was using his ISB's for blocking drains with Undercover. When I finally found some of my ships I was able to do something about it. It was a long drawn out battle. Ever time I get a good force drain going he would put another one Undercover. I was able to kell one undercover spy and take control of space. This game could have gone either way.
Full Win by 7 Total: 8(+49)

Highlights: I finished this game 30 seconds before time was called.
Lowlights: Nothing really it was a fun game.

Game 6
My Dark Side Vs Purinton?'s Cloud City Mains...Rating 1605

He was able to cancel Visage pretty early in this game. But soon I got another Visage out. He wasn't going to give up so he deploys a spy and someone else to cancel my second Visage. By now Vader was on Cloud city and some of my ships were in space draining. I could have deploy someone to take care of the guys he used to Cancel my Visage but for some reason I never did. Soon He deploys SOS so I make my way over to where he is at and tell him to go. During his Control phase I disarm Luke. He is a little upset about that. Now he deploys Savrip and Epp Han at that site. I wait until he starts a battle then I duel Luke and win he turns him to the dark side then I altar savrip I slice up Han and he loses somewhere around 10-15 more cards. Pretty much game over right there. After the game he wanted to count my deck, to make sure I had 60 cards in it. Of course I did, but I was a little shock he thought I was Cheating.
Full Win by 26 Total: 10(+77)

Highlights: Turning Luke to the dark side. You got to love that.
Lowlights: Having Visage cancelled twice. Other than that this was cool.

Game 7
My Dark side Vs Ted Hansen's Light Side Space Numbers...rating:1870

His deck is a mean deck. I had a pretty good advantage in this game, because Ted is a buddy of mine and I knew his Deck pretty well. Well come to think of it he knew my deck pretty well also. :) He had a god draw, but I too had a god draw. Things were just going good for me during this game. I stopped his space drains and had a torture in my hand every time he tried to insert on me. He has two Transmission Terminated in his deck, but it never came up so I hit him with Visage the whole game.
Full Win by 26 Total: 12(+103)

Highlights: Not losing to a numbers deck, and I only had one more game to go.
Lowlights: Not many accept having to play against someone you drove up with. Of course facing him in game 7 is nothing to complain about.

Game 8
My Light Side Vs Eric Bruen's ISB...Rating 1904

I knew this game was going to be tough. Eric was the one who came in first during the last Mega Tournament. I played pretty cautiously. During one battle I clashed the wrong guy, I thought I had him. But this character, if lost, will satisfy all attrition and battle damage against you. I did a lttle damage here and there without him doing much damage to me. Except making Luke lost after a force drain. At one point I thought Leia was going to get a beat down, but I survive with just the right draw. After a while I knew I was going to win. He knew it too, but wanted to keep the differential low.
Full Win by 17 Total: 14(+120)

Highlights: WOW I did it. I fell great after this game. I can't get this smile off of my face.
Lowlights: You have got to be kidding me, there is NONE.

I checked out all of the UNCUT sheets. It only has 3 flaws, but the Rare Sheets are perfect. What a great prize. Plus the Trophy that says Grand Champion looks great two. Ted and Chris both also get Trophies of their own, with Ted coming in 3rd and Chris coming 7th. What a good day for Las Vegas. I will try to get a report on the Team event soon. But now I will tell everyone that the " Vegas Strike Team' came in first place. That is right everyone we as a Team did a SWEEP fo the two day Tournament. I guess you can say we blew Alderaan up :)
