(Strategy)
The deck plays simply enough. I prefer to start on Tatooine, then
finish on either Coruscant or Naboo. I have more characters with
Naboo bonuses, but Mace is amazing on Coruscant, so I'm prepared
to win on either the 2nd or the 3rd planet. The jawas and gunguns
are in there for their 5 destiny this deck has 11 cards (the 4
transports, 3 sabers, and 4 pods) with destiny 2, everything else
is 4 or above. Strategy is simple: check your opening hand, and
fetch Jedi Training if you have a Mace, Pounded Unto Death if
you don't (unless of course you already have the right effect
in hand) Annie w/ pod dominates at the podrace arena, and Mace
w/ Saber and Wisdom dominates everywhere.
Against a Sith deck, duel. By paying attention to what my opponent
played, I could guess what destiny numbers he was likely to have
and use that to my advantage. The 1 extra damage on Mace gives
him an advantage against Maul, while Sidious will usually have
less power (and therefor fewer cards). DotF Maul could cause problems
since he's UR I haven't faced him yet. A destroyer droid deck
can cause some problems, since with the fight together card and
Where Are Those Droidikas?, two droids can easily get up in the
16-18 power range. Still, the higher destinies in this deck mean
he still has a chance of beating fighting-together droids, and
single universals don't have a chance: with Wisdom and his saber,
he's 10+destiny anywhere, minimum 12 total, and can fight twice.
Here's what Patrick Sullivan (aka Sith Master -- JCM aka Wiley
Virginian) had to say about the deck after playing in Colorado:
William had been waiting patiently for a match and so when he
got his chance he sure took advantage. He played his Mace - Anakin
deck all seven games and in the end it proved stronger than I
would have originally thought. I played the first four games with
my Maul deck and then switched over to destroyers when it became
abundantly clear that Mace was the better dueler. I think the
Duel Maul could would have faired better, but being ultra-rare,
I only had two. Alas, William had the better deck and played better
with it. He took the series against Maul 3-1.
Not bad for a deck I made solely because I was pulling too many
Wisdom of the Councils and never saw anyone else using Mace! -)
