Q. Since the first set of Menace all the
way too Naboo you have been a great deck builder, what keeps you
coming up with such good decks.
A. As you know I was fortunate to be able to start when the game
is brand new. I started playing in tourneys for SWccg after the
fouth set was released (Dagogah). At that time everyone was trying
to come up with THE DECK! I was able to come up with my 4 Obi/Qui-gon
deck that did fairly well. For the dark side I used a Sebulba/
Datrhs/ Aurra deck that also won it's fair share of games. What
I feel was the major turning point in my abilities of becoming
a good deck builder was my trip to DecipherCon. JC was just released
and every one was trying to trade for the cards they needed. I
learned what the popular decks were just by trading with the kids
and adults. Another factor that helps me come up with such good
decks is that I aim at taking control of two specific planets.
I build most of my deck around that then add a few characters
that might help out at the third planet I ignore. I also look
at destinys vs. power. Getting that mix right is soooo very important!
Q. Who so far would you consider your toughest opponant and why?
A. The one guy I would realy like to have revenge on is that German
who beat me out of the World Finals in that sealed deck at DecipherCon.
Locally though it would be a tie between Chris Hines (we have
VERY close games!), Avery Poliak ( in tournament situations we
usualy trade win and losses constantly!), and Andrew Cole (He
too also builds great decks and I can read his battle plans corectly
only about 60% of the time!). They all are great players and worthy
advisaries. Sorry Tim but someone has to not be afraid of you
in some kind of game!
Q. What would you consider how to build
a strong deck, and is it the same style for each deck you build?
A. As most of the local players know I shuffle ALOT! I really
don't stack my decks because I have faith in my decks and know
they are ballanced enough that I should get a good draw almost
every time.

Q. Why did you decide to start playing Young Jedi?
A. It was a game based on STAR WARS! Do I need any other reason!
I am a great fan of the movies and almost anything associated
with the movies. Trek fans are called Trekies well I think SW
fans should be call midiclorians! Cause we are the ones who breathe
life into the Star Wars Universe!
Q. What are your thoughts of The Battle of Nabool set?
A. I really like this set. I helps bring back the most underplayed
parts of this game back, Gungans and Pod Racers! I also helps
enhance old strong deck types like even my 4 Obi/ Qui-gon with
some of it's interupts! My oppinion of the sort though is not
a forgiving as I am (just a little SW humor!). It was really bad.
Q. I have seen the decklists you used. Can
you tell us how you came up with those decks?
A. The seeds of my light side deck sprouted from DecipherCon.
Then came Battle of Naboo and that enhanced and solidified my
LS deck into a killing machine!. The Sith deck was a mutation
from my Senator/Tank deck I took to DecipherCon and my all out
tanks deck I played after DecipherCon (only cause my senator tank
deck was stolen unfortunately.). I eventually added some higher
destiny cards in the red dots and them added a few mauls and sabers.
THe I introduced Nute And Rune to the bunch and when Battle of
Naboo came out Theed and Naboo were mine! Alot of destiny 5's
and 6's helped too!
Q. Do you think they are the best decks
for the Tournament Scene right now?
A. Sith 6's or Tanks are probably the strongest decks for the
Sith. For the Jedi the only thing I have seen work is a mind your
P's(adme) and Q's(ueen Amidala) deck(like the new title I gave
it!).
Q. Will you be using something similar for the Grand Slam Events
coming up?
A. I most likely will unless I come up with some killer decks
other than those.
Q. How does it feel to be the Nevada State Champion?
A. It feels good to be Nevada State Champion. I still wish that
some of the Reno players could have made the tourney though. It
would feel a little more complete.
Finishing up! Thanks for the interview and I hope other players
can learn something off what you told me today.
