AN EFFECT ON PLAYERS WORLDWIDE" |

Q. What to your knowledge and opinion do
you consider the strongest deck?
A. I still think that the strongest deck out there is the Tank
Deck. There is simply no other deck that you can build with the
fire power and not have to worry about stranding on a site. Because
of this you can pack the deck with good Destiny cards and not
have to worry about the 2 Destiny of Transports - like you do
with say Amidala / Handmaiden Decks and the like.
Q. Who so far would you consider your toughest
opponent(S) and why?
A. I would say that the gang here in Denver are some of the strongest
players. Mark, his wife Katie, and Shawn are some of the best
players to test new ideas on and play against.
Q. What do you consider when building a
strong deck, and is it the same style for each deck you build?
A. I generally like to make a good, tight theme deck. Whether
the theme is Site oriented or Character Oriented it just has to
have a good theme. One of the Decks I have used in the Past was
based entirely on two Site locations. If I fought on the site
location it was not designed for I would stay just long enough
for my opponent to place some characters to strand and then surrender
and go to another site. Some people forget the importance of surrendering.
Q. Is there a certain way that you stack
your decks, and if so why?
A. Not really, it is just a good shuffle and the old muti-piles
that many who played Magic have learned to utilize.
Q. Why did you decide to start playing
Young Jedi?
A. I have been playing CCG ever since there inception and have
always enjoyed them. I actully played YJ at the Celebration and
was hooked! It was so simple to learn and the ease of play was
great. I also liked that I did not already need to have about
a million cards to play. I also liked the easy dynamics of it.
While YJ is simple in structure it is the Battle Plan that I enjoy
the most. It is like a chess game in that you are trying to anticipate
what you opponent is going to play and in what position.
Q. What are your thoughts of Enhanced Menace
set?
A. I am glad to see that Decipher is doing positive things to
increase the games playability. I loved the enhanced stuff that
came out for SWCCG and if they do as good a job on Enhanced Darth
Maul as SWCCG it should prove to be a fantastic addition to the
game.
Q. I have seen the decklists you used.
Can you tell us how you came up with those decks?
A. Mainly my Dark Side deck was an enhanced version that Shawn
and Mark have been playing here in the area. My Light side deck
was simply tweaked from the Light Side Deck I used in the State
Championships.
Q. Do you think they are the best decks
for the Tournament Scene right now?
A. Who is to say. They may have won this time, but I would say
there are weakness's. In fact, against the tank deck an Overrun
scheme would be great. I also have to say that Jennifer Niana
had a great light side deck that actually defeated the Tank Deck!
I may have to playtest it here against some of the other Tank
Decks and see how her stategy holds up here - Great Job with the
deck Jennifer!
Q. Will you be using something similar
for the World Events?
A. Now why would I want to give that information away.
Q. How does it feel to be the Regional
Champion?
A. Great. It was a challenging event and all the players were
extremely good. It will be nice to have the free airfare to Orlando.
The only thing I wish was better is greater support from Decipher
for the players of this game. The Council Members and the Local
Players did a great job hosting the event, I just wish that they
had better help from Decipher, like the SWCCG players get to enjoy.
Finishing up! Thanks for the interview and
I hope other players can learn something off what you told me
today.
