"HAVING AN EFFECT ON PLAYERS WORLDWIDE"

(Constructed) - Hildesheim/Germany
2001-01-20:

After going 2-2 in my first Sealed Tourney, i decide
to go to a Constructed Event this time.

We had eight players in all i was playing Avery´s
Anakin-R2-Combo (I Will Bring Balance) for Light, and
Destroyer Droids for Dark.

Round 1, Game : I Will Bring Balance vs. Maul

I win the draw and select the Theed Palace as my first
location - i had seen a Maul´s Lightsaber during the
draw, so i was determined to win the first planet.

I deploy, and flip : Jedi Meditation, Ani Skywalker,
Child of Prophecy, Ani´s Podracer.

He has Rune Haako (JC, Sith Probe and the Duel Begins.

I deploy Eopie, R2 and some more fodder. I attack
without BC, he declares one.

Anakin kills unarmed Rune, while his souped-up Probe
kills my Gungan Representative. I deck him for two.

He laments, because those two cards were Force Push,
and another Maul´s Saber.

He deploys Duel Maul, gets his saber and attacks.

Against my better instincts (should have listened to
old Obi, not to..), i assign Anakin with Pod to fight
first - still no battlecard or another R2 in sight !

His Maul takes down Ani and Pod (with single Saber !!!)
his Rune kills my Jawa Bargainer.

Seeing that this will do no good, i surrender and move
to Coruscant. Again, i deploy Coruscant Anakin, Pod,
and the Effect face down.

He flips : Neimodian (blue), the Duel Begins, a Blaster
Rifle and two Sith Probes.

I deploy Eopie, Fates Anakin, R2 - and battle.

Kill the Neimodian, R2 draws even one of his probes.

He drops a transport, while i have no starfighters in
hand - transports his cards away.

Darth Maul, Master of Evil and his Lightsaber join
the ranks of his Sith Probes - he smacks my Anakin,
and his armed Probe kills my Eopie-armed Duel Anakin,
wiping the planet clean, winning by 24 !!!

Score : 0(-24)

Highs : Excuse me ???
Lows : Losing, never having a matching character, but
once. Getting my Anakins killed by Maul with
the single Saber, despite having two destiny-
draws.

Round 1, Game 2 : My destroyers vs. Anakin/Obi

This starts as a repeat of the first game i get some
destroyers and probes, but no weapon or a battlecard.

I end up deploying the effect, two sith probes and one
red dot <> destroyer.

He flips : Obis Saber, Anakin, R2 and a fodder card.

I attack without battlecard, after two more destroyers
joined my ranks, kill R2 and to fodder - Anakin kills
one of my destroyers.

He deploys Obi, Ani´s Pod and attacks with one battle-
card. His combo gets another of my characters, leaving
me with one destroyer and two probes.

I give up Naboo, move to Mos Espa (Tattoine), win this
planet with ease. He selects the Capital City for his
Coruscant Location. We battle for a while, and despite
having P59 and weapons, even one <> destroyers, i only
get Switch to Bio for battlecards.

Finally, he battles with Obi and two Anakins with Pods,
one in the combo, the other by himself - smacking my
droids - Loss by 21.

Score : 0(45)

Highs : Winning a planet. making a good start on Naboo.

Lows : Losing again - never but once, getting the
combo to work.

Round 2, Game 1 : Anakin vs. Destroyers/Neimodians

This one´s a bit tricky Squads and <> destroyers for
red, Rune&Nute, Daulty Dofine and some sith probes.

For the first time, my deck works with ease. I get
matching cards for Tattoine, winning the planet in just
some minutes. Now, i cant seem to draw a transport,
all i have is about five fodder cards, which i deploy
to Naboo, in hopes of getting a transport and Ani with
weapon in time - i hindsight, i should have deployed
only one fodder character, surrendered the planet, and
deployed the remaining four on Coruscant -
Of course, she wins Naboo. Then i put some resistance
on Coruscant, but a couple of bad matchups with
low destiny draws results in me getting decked for 15.

Score : 0(-60)

Highs : Winning the first Planet.

Lows : Making a mistake. Having bad matchups, low
destinies, and luck in draw, in general.

Round 2, Game 2 : My Destroyers vs. his Qui Gon/Queen/
Padme - Deck

This game is execellent ! If only my decks would have
worked so well for the first three games !

I get perfect draws, no real opposition (just a hand-
maiden or Queen without a weapon) - at one part, my
combo even defeats Qui-Gon and Queen - combo, doing
him eight damage !

I win Tattoine in the first five minutes of the game,
and on Naboo i win again, soon !!!!

Win by 39 - the second highest win overall !

Score : 2(-21)

Highs : Winning. My opponent having not a chance.

Lows : None.

So i get fifth place, a duel and an jc booster.

Overall, there were four destroyer decks, two tanks,
at least one maul, three panaka decks, two Anakin -
decks one with Obi, mine with R2, one Chancellors
Ambassadors deck .

My friend managed to take second place with 6(104)
in four games his destroyers only losing to the
Anakin-Obi combo deck.

The winner played Panaka + P59 - destroyers, btw.
