Disclamer: This fic is based on the universe
of Warhammer 40k, a registered product of the Gamesworkshop.
And Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is of Gainax. I don't own
Eva or 40k and don't claim to do so.
Author's notes: For those of you who know
40k, you will realise that there are many differences between
the real 40k universe and the one used in my fic. I had to
tone down on the darkness a bit, mainly because of how I like
to write fics, but also because the two universes would have
been totally incompatible. The appendix is at the bottom for
those who need it. Just before the end of the chapter will
be regular section dedicated to the history and background
of the universe this fic is based in.
You many noticed that some of the characters
are more OOC than others. The Fuyutsuki of this chapter in
particular, is very active, please bare in mind that this
is when he was still comparitively young... and besides...
Inquisitors have been know to kicka$$ even at age 300. Though
yes... he will mellow out in his ould age.
Warning for use of strong language and occasional
graphic violence (though not as much in this chapter).

Caelum System
"Can we really do this?" asked a
young woman wearing a long robe, typical of the Adeptus Mechanicus.
"We have no choice
you know that
they aren't giving us an option" replied a man in his
middle ages, who was also in robes, but numerous icons on
his person marked him out as an Inquisitor Lord.
"And all we can do is
total Genocide?
I mean
when I discovered the Black Moon data slabs and
helped design and build the Eva, I was just creating something
which we could use to fight back
But to activate the
Shadow Cry
that's like using a Plasma Cannon to kill
a rabid dog
"
"I'd say it was more like this: if you
had only one shot
which would you rather use against
a something that threatened the entire human race?"
"But we have the Evas
"
"Yui
You know as well as I do that
they came too late
the Angelis are generating and adapting
new Angels far quicker that our ability to train new pilots
and develop new countermeasures
Chances are that Terra
will fall within months. Besides
we are here already,
and our duty to the survival of mankind takes precedence over
any personal qualms we may have over Genocide."
The young woman glanced outside through the
heavy reinforce glass archways, which gave her a good view
of the Caelum system.
"Inquisitor Fuyutsuki
You have
known me since I was a child and I have know you to be one
of those few amongst the Ordo Xenos, who are fairly tolerant
of aliens
If it were not for you, dozens of other races,
would have been wiped out by the Exterminatus. In your eyes,
can we every really justify the use of such horrifying powers
?"
she almost whispered.
"No
" was his only reply.

Within an hour, the ancient alien artefact
known as only as the Shadow Cry was activated. A large black
monolithic shape not much bigger than an Eva, it's sleek surface
hinted to no internal mechanism and certain did not suggest
any means for it to move under it's own power. Yet that was
what it did.
Four entire Eva battle groups including one
personally piloted by Magos Yui Ikari was there to supervise
and protect the deployment. And of these battle groups, only
Yui's was actually within visual range of the Shadow Cry,
for such was the need for secrecy.
Another thirteen battle groups had launched
an all out offensive on the Angelis homeworld, in order to
draw their forces there. In reality, there was no chance of
them ever winning, but they did not need to. As soon as the
signal was given, they would withdraw to their designated
carriers and immediately warp out of the system. Still, they
would certainly suffer heavy losses before this could occur.
"Ishikawa, Romano
deployment is
in nine minutes
as soon as we get there I want you to
break off
only one person is need to activated it
"
spoke Yui though her Comms.
"No way we're leaving you alone boss-lady
you can do your stuff, but we'll guard your back" replied
Romano.
"Something stinks
they should be
all over us by now
there's no way they're this dumb"
commented Ishikawa.
Yui sighed, Ishikawa was always this paranoid
when things were quiet. But still, she was right, things seemed
a little 'too' quiet.
"You are tempting fate my dear
Emperor knows that nothing calls to Chaos and misfortune like
the lack of faith
He will guide us should anything happen"
suggested Romano.
"Don't you give me that crap Ok? I've
had to here with you Emperor-worshipping-nutbags! I say what
ever I have to say to keep the Preachers or crazies like those
Redemptionist from burning me at the stake, but I won't tolerate
that shit here too!" all but yelled Ishikawa.
"Heresy! Take that back now you witch!"
Yui listened as the two continued to argue
as they regularly did about their favourite theme; the divinity
of the Emperor and so on. Personally, Yui was at least a partial
believer, this was because she was also a believer in the
Machine God as all who were raised amongst the priesthood
of Mars. Yet, she had always found that, although she had
a natural affinity to technology as befits one of the Adeptus
Mechanicus, she was rather hesitant to embrace machines to
the fullest extent. That was why she refrained to 'enhance'
herself to the extent as many of her kind had.
She thought of the Emperor as a more
human.
The young Magos hung her head in defeat. To
think that mankind's last hope rests in people who did nothing
but arguing over petty squabbles. But then again
wars
have been fought for far less
"Alright, that's it you two! We're almost
there! Shut up and pull yourselves together!" Yui ordered,
slightly annoyed by their lack of discipline.
They did not get within more than a few kilometres
when warning started screaming in from all bands. All three
battle groups guarding their perimeter were under heavy attack.
Battle group B and D had already suffered casualties and could
only hope to hold them for only a short while.
"Alright! We're here! Ishikawa! Romano!
Go and reinforce battle groups B and D! We can't let them
break through or they could damage the Shadow Cry!"
"But
" started Romano.
"No buts
! That's an order!"
The two immediately sped off in separate directions
to help their comrades, leaving Yui alone with the Shadow
Cry.
"Al
alright
this is it then
Emperor have mercy on me
" whisper Yui as she brought
up the command console.
Not long after, the fallback signal was given.
No one save for Magos Yui Ikari, had witnessed exactly what
the Shadow Cry did. Fifteen hours later, long after all the
Terran forces had been evacuated from the Caelum system. Long
range probes, which had been left behind, detected a massive
anomaly. Within minutes, a massive gulf ripped reality apart,
tearing planets and star alike to shreds. For a short instant,
the raw unrelenting energies of the warp flooded the material
universe, twisting the living things inside out, turning the
seas into boiling blood. The Caelum system died a long and
ugly death, one from which no survivor would ever come from.
In the end, the system collapsed upon itself,
wiping out all existence of the Angelis race except for those
Angels who were elsewhere at the time. Those few who escaped
the great fall were later hunted down and eliminated one by
one by special Hunter-Killer squads.
Even years later, the space where the Caelum
system used to be has not full stabilised. Scholars theorise
that if the Shadow Cry should be used to the full extent of
it power, they had no doubt that it would be able to create
permanent rifts in space similar to the infamous Eye of Terror.
Yui looked down at her crystal goblet. Her
hands pressed against the cold metal walls of the corridor
of the massive Eva Carrier; The Final Genesis. Celebrations
over their stunning victory was in full swing, the main conference
hall had been converted into an elegant ballroom. Her goblet
was filled with the finest wine, taken directly from a High
Lord's private stock. It had an incredible taste and only
a few selected individuals in a galaxy inhabited by billion
people would be lucky to ever taste such sweet delights.
But Yui was not in a mood of such things.
In fact, her throat was dry and her eyes red. She felt immeasurably
ill and struggled to keep herself from throwing up.
'What have I just done
?' She asked herself
as the reality of what she had done hit her, 'It was I who
suggested this, it was I who activated the Shadow Cry and
it was 'I' who just 'killed' an entire star system.'

Tarnis VI, Solar system
The Tarnis VI fortress-monastery was situated
in a stable orbit around Venus.
This impregnable space fortress was built
from a hollowed out asteroid and was home to one of the most
powerful faction within the Inquisition. The leader of this
faction was also the current Inquisitorial representative
amongst the High Lords of Terra, and has been for over a thousand
years now. Which meant that he wielded terrible powers over
both the Inquisition and the High Lords.
He was not however, by all mean the oldest
living human, as the genetically engineered Space Marine Commanders
have been known to live quite easily over a millennia, even
more if you take into account that most die in battle rather
than due to old age. Then there are the Techno-Magi of Mars,
who have replaced most of their organic bodies with artificial
replacements. There are some, who they say still remember
the days since the Emperor walked amongst mortals. Ten thousand
years ago
Yet even they, fade into nothingness, as their
memories are slowly leached away by time and entropy, until
they are nothing but a soulless machine.
Despite he was none of these, Keel Lorenz
still had many years to which he has to attempt to accomplish
is goals. The most ambitious of which is the very aim that
his faction was striving for.
Monodominantion.
Based on the idea that the only way humanity
can survive and truly prosper in this galaxy, their aim was
to destroy everything else in it. In other words, Keel Lorenz
believed a zero-tolerance policy to all aliens, mutants and
heretics.
Until now, Keel struggled to uphold this ideal,
having to sometimes concede that a peaceful pact was sometimes
in order. Like with such races as the Eldar, who though in
their current state was weaker than the Imperium, could still
inflict massive damage and casualties before they could be
defeated. To the High Lord Lorenz, this would be a small price
to pay for ultimate victory if it were not for the other races
who would certainly then strike out at the Imperium whilst
they were still weak. Keel had his visions, but he was not
a foolish man, or otherwise he would have had been able to
attain such a position. As thus, he was forced to work around
such things and concentrate on other, weaker, and more vulnerable
races to exterminate from the face of the galaxy.
Until now that is...
Word of the stunning success of the Shadow
Cry had reached him within hours of the destruction of the
Caelum system. This was the very tool, which would enable
him to enact his dream, his life's mission.
But there was one who stood in his way
someone who he could normally crush underfoot within a blink
of an eye. But unfortunately, this person held all the winning
cards. Magos Yui Ikari, the only person who knows how to activate
the Shadow Cry
The alien artefact was discovered in the region
of space called 'The Ghost Realm', an area were lies numerous
star systems which once support a high-tech civilisation,
but is now complete uninhabitable even despite many extensive
attempts to colonise or terraform.
All attempts to divine it's use by Psykers
have met with failure, whilst detailed examination by even
the most experienced Magos have had little success in determining
what it was.
Despite all this, Magos Ikari still led an
expedition back into the Ghost Realm where it is said she
not only discovered the Black Moon data slabs which lead to
the development of the Evangelion Units. But also found a
crystal matrix, which contained an alien communication educating
her of the uses and working of the Shadow Cry. Unfortunately,
when removed from the Ghost Realm, the crystal matrix decayed
away into nothingness, leaving the cursed Ikari woman as the
sole barer of the information he so desired.
He could not risk any harm to come to his
woman. Therefore more unconventional means must be employed
to bring her within his grasp.
Just then, another man appeared from the shadows.
He seemed in only his late twenties, and wore an air of seriousness
and cold efficiency around him.
"Ahhh
Acolyte Rokubungi
Just
in time. I trust the journey from Petra II wasn't too shaky"
Keel asked.
Gendo Rokubungi stared sharply at his superior,
perhaps pondering whether on not to engages in idle chat.
As things would have it, Gendo decided to indulge the old
man. "We encountered a group of stray Angels waiting
for us at the Karissian Jump gate, High Lord. Fortunately
our Eva escorts were able to deal with them in a timely fashion."
"Good
good
" mutter the
High Lord, "I trust you know why you have been called
here?"
He had not been told anything, but as an Inquisitor
Gendo had to learn how to make a lot of calculated assumptions.
"This is about my relationship with Magos Ikari, I presume
"
Gendo detected a hint of surprise from the
High Lord, suggesting that perhaps he did not expect a correct
answer from one so young.
"Very good, you are correct
It
is about your relationship with Magos Ikari
You are
hereby ordered to bring her before me by any means possible
do you understand Acolyte? Or should I say
Inquisitor
Lord?" Keel said with a sly grin.
Gendo's heart nearly skipped a beat.
Promoted from an Acolyte, to not only a full Inquisitor,
but an Inquisitor Lord? This was something quite unexpected
Quickly considering his options, Gendo easily concluded
that the chance of him leaving the room alive if he
refused were very slim indeed. So he did the only thing
he could do.
"I am honoured to accept, High
Lord" Gendo replied, lowering his head and placed
his fist on his chest.
"Excellent
excellent
you can now go" Keel said as he turn to face out
of the view arches.
Gendo turned around and begun to leave
without saying another word.
"Remember Inquisitor Rokubungi
All traitors die a long and painful death
"
Keel announced for no particular reason.
But Gendo simply continued on his way,
paying no heed to the words just spoken.

Several days later
on the Carrier
The Final Genesis
"Gendo!!!" called out Yui as she
happily waved towards him whilst he was descending the shuttle's
ramp.
"
." The recently promoted
Inquisitor said nothing however, but managed a small, small,
smile as she embraced him as tightly as she could.
The hangar crew watched in discomfort at Magos
Yui's bright shining personality, the feeling that she was
totally out of place in such dark times like these was mutual
amongst all that have ever met her.
"So its finally over
the people
can start to rebuild their lives again
" Yui told
him as they walked away from the docking bays.
Gendo detected a hint of something in her
voice, and surprisingly, it some what disturbed him, from
ever since he had known Yui, she had always been very open
and conscious of her feelings. It was one of the things which
attracted him to her in the first place, she was different
from many of the people who lived in this age. Especially
from the others of Adeptus Mechanicus.
It was not uncommon that someone in training
to join the priesthood of mars should change their minds somewhere
along the way. But most realise this early on, whilst a few
even reach the rank of Magos before they discover that they
hold dear to their personal lives too much to truly become
one of Priesthood. Those found to be like this are often exiled
for fear that their personal doubts could spread to others.
Yui Ikari could be considered to be one such
person, and they would have exiled her years ago if it were
not for her obvious skills and intelligence. Their justification
became more than valid when she discovered the data slabs
and developed the Evangelion. If it were not for her discoveries,
it is certain that the Imperium would have fallen by now.
Something was wrong though, and Gendo could
tell. Yui was disturbed by something and it hung over her
like a stormy cloud.
"Yui
is there something wrong
?"
asked Gendo, sounding rather thoughtful.
"I
" Yui was surprised by the
question.
Was she that obvious? Or is it just because
Inquisitors were trained to second-guess other people's moods?
"I
Please
come with me to
my quarters
so we can speak more privately
"
her eyes pleading.
"I understand
"
Just before Gendo turned to follow Yui, he
spotted Inquisitor Fuyutsuki standing further down a corridor,
looking quite impassive. Yet, something pass between them
right there and then. It couldn't have been a telepathic message,
for neither were Psykers. But somehow
perhaps it was
because they knew each other so well
Gendo caught the
impression that Fuyutsuki knew exactly what he was here for.
Avoiding any further eye contact, Gendo moved
on to join Yui, who was waiting for him expectantly.
Fuyutsuki nervously headed immediately down
to the hangars, which were massive enough to dock several
Escort-class warships. He immediately spotted his old friend
Tetsuya Kaji, together with his young son; Rouji, who was
barely ten years old. Tetsuya was a noble and merchant from
the planet of Kaziac, and had volunteered his serve as a frigate
pilot, after the Angelis destroyed his planet together with
the rest of his family.
He was none the happier since their victory
and Fuyutsuki was glad to see that the poor fool had stopped
his unsavoury drinking habits. He was working on some repairs
with his prized possession, a moderate-sized frigate named
Lady Luck. A tough and sturdy craft with decent weapons and
warp drives, more than capable of carrying three or four Eva
units. Which was exactly what the Inquisitor needed.
"Tetsuya!" Fuyutsuki called out,
"We have to talk! I need you help!"
The man looked up, upon seeing the Inquisitor
he scratched his head and displayed his usual lady-killer
grin. Something that Fuyutsuki has seen more than once employed
by the young Rouji was well.
"What can I be of service with, my Lord?"
asked Tetsuya.
"I need you to prep the Lady Luck and
load up Evangelion Units Zero to Three, can you managed that
by 0800 tomorrow?"
Tetsuya frowned, obviously quite puzzled.
"It'll be a tight fit
but
we're leaving?
Aren't we heading for Terra for that big reception they have
setup for us?"
"They have a reception alright, but not
that kind that you might expect
"
Tetsuya turned and looked at the Lady Luck,
"I see. They want Magos Ikari and the Shadow Cry don't
they
"
Fuyutsuki gaze at the man, he could now see
that, Tetsuya had been around him long enough to know how
the Inquisition works.
"Why do you care about her so much? Most
Inquistors wouldn't give a damn
No offence
"
"Don't worry, I know what you mean
it's because
because I believe she is right about many
things
and she is a reflection of much of what humanity
has lost to survive in this age. She still cares
when
others don't."
The Inquisitor seemed to brood over this for
a short while when he finally returned to the issue at hand.
"I want you to secure the Units, and
bring them to the following co-ordinates in exactly ten years."
Fuyutsuki said as passed a data slab to him. All whilst little
Rouji watched upon them innocently.
"Remember
I want you out of here
by 0800 understood? Don't worry about authorisation and such.
Just don't let them see you load up the units and you'll be
fine. I'll even get rid off the logs and security records
later so you don't have to be worried about being hunted down"
explained the Inquisitor.
Tetsuya wondered why they needed to wait ten
years, but knew better than to argue. He looked up from the
co-ordinates on the data slab and asked "What about you
and the lady?"
"We'll find a way
they will be
watching us too closely for us to stow along
Besides,
Magos Ikari doesn't even know of this yet" he said regrettably.
Tetsuya started to look distracted and twitch
around a bit, "Oh
err
and what of my
"
"Your fees will be paid, I will make
sure you are provided with substantial compensation for your
help."
"Ahh
very well then
After
all, I need credits for fuel and stuff
I'll see you
in ten years then
"
"Wait
one more thing
I'd
like you to take someone else with you too
"
"?"
Fuyutsuki turned and motioned to someone unseen
the all clear. Out from the shadows of one of the empty repair
bays, came a young girl, apparently about the same age of
little Rouji. She looked like a poor frightened kitten, shaking
like a leaf, hiding herself partially behind the Inquisitor's
robes.
Tetsuya immediately noticed the medical gown
she was wearing. "Who
"
"She's the Katsuragi child
"
"What? Her? Shouldn't she be older?"
"No
they just released her from
stasis only about a year ago
they never actually got
around to doing it before for fear of contamination."
"So why am I taking her too?"
"From what I heard, they want to keep
her under observation for the rest of her life
and maybe
even use her as a test subject
I disagree with such
method
I know for a fact that they will learn nothing
new and I will not allow them to use the only person I managed
to save in the Angelus system in this way. Please take care
of her
"
At this point the young Rouji stepped forth,
imitating his father's grin as much as possible. He seemed
to offer the girl a small candy. To which the girl stared
at it for a while and then rudely snatched it from his hand,
immediately stuffing it in her mouth. She immediately spat
it out as soon as it registered to her that it had been covered
with machine oil. At this point, the boy burst into a giggle
but was soon put to a stop as the girl puffed up her cheeks
and socked him for all his troubles.
Tetsuya burst out laughing at the sight of
his son been flattened by the angry young girl. "I see
they're going to get along just fine
"
That was the last of Tetsuya, Fuyutsuki was
ever to see. He successfully stowed away the Eva units and
was never caught. Unfortunately, a lot can happen in ten year.
In fact, six years later Tetsuya was docked at a space port
for repairs when a workers riot broke out. He caught a stray
Stubber round in his neck, which caused him to bleed to death
before the Arbitrators could quell the disturbance.

Yui sat before the mirror in her quarters,
tentatively brushing her hair. She was quite naked to say
the least, save for the sheet of cloth wrapped around her
like a Toga.
"Gendo
can I ask you a question?"
she sudden spoke without turning around.
"Hmmmm
?" came a fairly uninterested
mumble from behind her.
"Why did you join the Inquisition? I
know that you definitely fit the part
but what were
your reasons?"
"My reasons
? That would be the
same reason why you became part of the Adeptus Mechanicus
We didn't have an option
We were recruited
"
"Oh
right
"
"What you really want to know is what
keeps me part of Inquisition
right?"
"I
yes
I guess that's it
"
"I wouldn't tell just anyone about this,
but the reason I remain in the Inquisition is partially the
mental conditioning they gave us, to make us believe that
what we do is right, but
it is also partially because
of my origins
"
"
" Yui stopped her combing
and settled with just staring at her reflection.
"
I am the son of a lousy over-ambitious
Imperial Guard Lieutenant
the bastard went and got himself
kill by some dumb Orks or something, the records aren't clear.
As an orphan I was cast on the streets, forced to survive
on my own for several years until I was picked up by the Schola
Progenium
quite frankly, I honestly crave power
something which my father wanted and got his head hacked off
in pursuit of." He paused for a moment, "Does
this disturb you?"
"I
I
think you have other
reasons too
" she said quietly, "You just don't
realise it
or otherwise I could not love you as much
as I do
"
For the first time in many years, Gendo was
lost for words.
Inquisitor Fuyutsuki was ready for them when
they came for him. Three well armed Security Enforcers led
by Rokubungi. He did not make any attempt to resist however,
it would have been simply very nasty and futile. He was searched
and removed of all weapons and equipment. He was then placed
in shackles and brought before Gendo, who personally stripped
him of the Inquisitorial badge of office.
Gendo seemed a bit annoyed, possibly for the
loss of not just one but four Evangelion units. Yet he did
not seem surprised, which was something that was quite typical
of him.
"Lord Inquisitor Fuyutsuki
I hereby
charge you of Conspiracy and Betrayal of the Inquisition amongst
a list of twenty other charges. How do you plead? " asked
Gendo patiently as he paced before them.
"I plead not guilty." Fuyutsuki
replied firmly.
"Repent your sins now and I shall grant
you a quick and painless death."
"I will not, for I am innocent"
Gendo came to a halt right in front of Fuyutsuki
and turned to stare directly into his eyes. "Very well
you have been now officially stripped of your rank as an Inquisitor
and all your authority has been hereby revoked. Take him to
the detention cells, his trial will take place immediately
after I have dealt with more pressing concerns."
To those words, the Security Enforcers led
the ex-Inquisitor to his cold solitary cell. Which was exactly
what Fuyutsuki had expected them to do.
As a person, Kozo Fuyutsuki wasn't a violent
man, he wasn't even an aggressive man. He was someone who
prefer the subtleties of an spy, the cunning skills of an
infiltrator and the silent ways of the knife. But as an Inquisitor,
he had been more than trained in the arts of war. And it was
also an important skill of the Inquisitor to know when what
will work and what will not.
In this extreme case, Fuyutsuki was thinking
that he had no alternatives.
As soon as he was left alone in his cell,
Fuyutsuki took off his boot, where inside the heel had been
secured three Jakaero Digi-weapon. High prized alien artefacts,
the Digi-weapons were one-shot weapons that had been built
into the shape of a ring and were extremely useful for their
discrete appearance and size. Fuyutsuki had saved them for
such an occasion.
Placing them on his fingers, he quick aimed
at the cell bars and fired one.
Outside the cell, a lone officer wondered
what was all the commotion about. He walked into the room
with his Laspistol drawn only, to be struck down by an energy
blast to the head.
Snatching up the fallen man's Laspistol, Fuyutsuki
grimly headed towards the armoury where he knew his equipment
and armour was been held.
"What is the meaning of this!?"
cried Yui as she returned from morning rites to find the two
Enforcers who were ripping her room apart in search of something.
"You know perfectly well what they are
here for
" came a voice from behind her that immediately
caused her spin around.
"Gendo?!" she exclaimed in shock,
"What? What is this?!"
"I'm afraid, Magos Ikari, that you are
to be placed under house arrest until such time are you can
be safely transferred over to Tarnis VI as soon as we have
reached the Solar system." He announced emotionlessly.
"Tarnis?! That's where
where
the Monodominationists
" she begun to see, "They
want me
and the Shadow Cry
"
"The Shadow Cry is a too powerful weapon
to be ignored
did you really think that they wouldn't
have come for you?"
By now, despite being a grown woman, Yui was
almost to the point of tears. "How you do this to me!?
How could you of all people!?!"
"If it were
not me
then it
would have been someone else
I would not see you harmed
"
he replied in a sombre tone of voice.
"Dammit Gendo! It didn't have to
be this way!! You could have told the High Lords! We could
have
" she clenched her eyes and fists in anger,
"I
I
I hate you thrice damned lying son
of a bitch!!!"
Gendo closed his eyes for a moment,
taking in full force Yui's insults without any attempt
to stop her. For some reason, although he had heard
every curse ever spat at his name throughout the Imperium,
these words pained him in ways he did not fully understand.
Then suddenly, a large shock mace slammed
Gendo on the back of the head and caused him to fall
unconscious onto the ground. Immediately followed by
two sharp distinctive loud hisses from a silenced Bolt
pistol. Yui barely notice the two Enforcers drop when
Fuyutsuki stepped forth from behind where Gendo was
standing.
"Inquistor Fuyutsuki!" Yui
cried in surprise.
The man in question was now in his full
combat armour, a heavily ornamented powered suit built
specifically for him by the finest artificers of Archanis;
a Forgeworld which he had visited in his youth. He seemed
very fierce looking in it, all considering the fact
that it was designed to inspire awe or terror to the
right people.
|
 |
"I'm not an Inquistor anymore Yui
things are complicated
I'll explain along the way, let's
go
"
"I
I understand
just give
me a second to gather some things
"
Less than a minute later Yui had collected
together a mass of what seemed like oddities and trinkets,
which she shoved hastily into a backpack. She then grabbed
her Adeptus Mechanicus mantle and swung it around her shoulders.
But as she stepped through the bulkhead, she hesitated. The
young woman turned around gazed down at the unconscious form
of her former lover. Her features softened and a feeling of
regret and sadness washed over her faces. "Damn you
Gendo
" she muttered as she turned back around and
strode out of the room.
Unbeknownst to her or Fuyutsuki, Gendo had
managed to retain consciousness. Opening his eyes just slightly,
Gendo managed to whisper words, which he had never and would
ever say again.
"I'm sorry
"
"
so therefore, Tetsuya will bring
the Units to Akris in ten year" explained Fuyutsuki.
"Ahh
good. Now I see
"
said Yui.
By the time they had almost reached the docking
bays the general alarm flared. Heavily security bulkheads
descended and cut them off from their destination.
"Curses! They acted faster than I had
predicted
we'll have to go around
" swore
Fuyutsuki.
He was about to head off when a hand stopped
him. "No, I can deal with the security grid. You just
guard my back."
With a nod of understanding, Fuyutsuki turned
and drew his Power sword from its scabbard. Blue arches of
crackling energy criss-crossed over its surface as he activated
it.
It did not take long for the first of the
armed Servitors to appear. As strong and tough they were,
these vat-grown bio-mechanical hybrids were still very clumsy
and slow. Fuyutsuki was upon them before they even had a chance
to raise their weapons. Striking down, aided by the servos
of his Power armour, Fuyutsuki tore off the half the chest
of one of them, it's mechanical components offering no resistance
whatsoever to the matter disruption field generated by the
Power sword. He then kicked down another and pumped several
Bolt pistol rounds into its organic components, the explosive
bolts tearing several gaping holes in the figure.
Multiple laser bolts splashed against his
armour but only succeeded in singeing its Ceramite surface.
Quickly ducking around the corner, he primed a fragmentation
grenade, which he then rolled down the corridor.
"Are you done yet?" shouted Fuyutsuki
over the sound of the explosion and twisted metal.
In the meantime, Yui was crouched before an
access panel with numerous cortical cables linking her to
the emergency interface. "Give me a sec
" she
said with her eyes shut, "There!"
The armoured bulkhead that stood between them
and the docking bay rose, finally allowing them access.
"Quick! Let's go!" Fuyutsuki grabbed
Yui's arm and dragged her off just after she had managed to
unplug the cortical cables.
"Over there! The Poseidon, that's our
way out
!" he indicated to the Cobra class missile
frigate.
"The crew?"
"Loyal to me
I warned them of this
already, so they should be ready."
Upon boarding The Poseidon, Yui was greeted
enthusiastically by several lower-level Techpriest, but none
she recognised. Fuyutsuki, however chased them off, ordering
them to engage the engines.
"In case you didn't realise it already,
I took the liberty of freezing their command network for at
least a short while, so they won't be able to override the
bay doors or shoot us down when we're out
" commented
a smiling Yui.
"Emperor bless you Yui" Fuyutsuki
smiled back as he was able to rid himself of one more worry.
Within minutes, they were outside. The swift
Cobra class headed directly for the nearest Jump gate. Other
crafts were quickly sent to intercept them, but with orders
to capture Magos Yui Ikari alive, there was little they could
do to stop their escape.
Upon reaching the Jump gate, The Poseidon
engaged it's warp engines, creating a small rift in space
and just as quickly, disappeared into it.

Several months later
"So
?" asked Yui.
"So
what?" asked a puzzled
Fuyutsuki.
"We've finally managed to evade all the
ships and drones Gendo sent after us
and it seems that
they finally gave up for now
but what do we do
?"
"Well
I was thinking about dropping
you off somewhere and going back for the Shadow Cry when they
least expect it
smuggling out several Eva units when
no one's looking is one thing
smuggling out a highly
classified and dangerous alien weapon is another."
Yui begun to laugh loudly all of a sudden.
"What
what so funny?"
Yui struggled to calm herself down enough
to speak, and even then, it didn't make much sense to Fuyutsuki.
"You needn't bother my friend
That broken lump
of metal they have isn't the Shadow Cry
I figured 'that'
after I translated the Alien communication I found
The
real Shadow Cry was inside of it, and I removed that a while
ago
"
"You're telling me you have it with you?!"
"Of course not! As if I'd keep something
like that on me."
"So where is it?"
"Ah
wouldn't you like to know
?"
All of a sudden, Yui lurched forth slightly,
holding her hand against her month. Concerned for her, Fuyutsuki
leaned over to see what was wrong. "Yui
are you
alright?"
She felt a little fazed and dizzy, but she
feared at that point that all the signs pointed to only one
thing and she didn't know whether to be happy or saddened.
"I feel sick

Prelude to destruction / First contact
and the fall of Angelus
The Angelus system was a little-know binary
star system, comprising of nine planets. On Angelus Prime;
the 4th and only habitable planet, a remote research and exploration
outpost had been established run by a permanent crew of two
thousand men and women, and their families.
Being in such an isolated position from
the rest of the Imperium, the Angelus base was considerably
well protected by a ring of orbital defence platforms and
ground laser silos. The system's Jump gate, situated near
the 8th planet was equally protected with asteroid weapons
array aimed directly so that anyone hostile forces foolish
enough to come through, would be destroyed one by one before
they could regroup. This setup was more than sufficient to
fight off pirates and any of the hostile alien races before
encountered.
It all begun when the first recon ships
and drones started to return to base with disturbing reports
of planets in nearby systems, originally marked as habitable
and containing non-sentient life, had in fact been entirely
purged clean. Leaving nothing but massive oceans of what could
only be defined as primordial ooze. No evidence was ever found
of what happened to these worlds. But as it were, humanity
was to learn, all too well, exactly what happened.
They attacked without warning or provocation,
a small group of monstrous creatures dropped out of warp near
the Jump gate and attacked the it's defence arrays. Destroying
many of the asteroid platforms before they could even fire
back and when they did, laser bolts and plasma blasts were
deflect or brushed aside as if they were nothing. Within a
matter of minutes the gate defence array had been completely
annihilated.
The Commander in charge of the Angelus
base was Chief Magos Katsuragi (See ref. 'Katsuragi Discoveries'
KAT.AM.06534/42). A wise man, who realised early on that
they were outmatched. He immediately ordered the general evacuation,
whilst a group of volunteers manned the ground laser and attack
crafts aimed to distract their attackers so that their friends,
families and co-workers could get away.
Within hours, the alien creatures had reached
within range of the Angelus Prime's defence cordon, and as
Chief Magos Katsuragi had expected, their weapons proved ineffective.
Barely half and hour had passed since the attack begun, when
an energy blast from one of the creatures struck the base
full on. Contact with those who had volunteered to remain
behind was lost soon after.
At that same time, the evacuation fleet
had evaded the creatures whilst they were engaged at Angelus
Prime, but when they reached the Jump gate, disaster struck.
It seemed that one of the creatures had remind behind to guard
the Jump point. What happened next was sketchy at best, but
all evidence gather seemed to point that Chief Magos Katsuragi
transferred a copy of their logs and everything they discovered
of the creatures into a data codex and placed it, together
with his only daughter, into his personal evacuation pod.
The pod was immediately jettisoned and soon after, their ship
and escorts were destroyed.
Months later, with no word from Angelus
Prime, the Imperium sent an investigation party, which included
two powerful Inquisitors: Lord Fuyutsuki (See ref. 'Disappearance
of
' INQ.XM.02334/G) and Acoyte Rokubugi (See
ref%#Error_Data_Corruption_%^6Classified^%&#).
What they discovered was horrifying to
say the least. The scattered remains of the evacuation fleet
was easily detected, and quickly targeted for search and rescue.
Hours went by as they shifted through the field of wreckage
without finding a single survivor. Then, by shear luck, a
scouting drone discovered the heavily damaged escape pod containing
Chief Magos Katsuragi's daughter and the data codex.
They were able to immediately access the
data codex, but did not dare to break the Stasis field protecting
the young girl for fear that she might have been severely
injured, or even contaminated somehow. The Inquisitors both
agreed that she would be transported back to Terra and the
necessary precautions for quarantine and medical support were
provided before she was revived.
Armed with the information provided by
the data codex, they head towards the planet, fearing what
they would find.
When they arrived, they found a barren
planet, reduced to little more than an oversized rock, wiped
clean of all living organisms. Only a substantial amount of
primordial ooze left on the planet surface hinted the existence
of what was once a habitable world.
The investigation party returned to Terra
with little, yet important information on what they were up
against. The conclusions to be drawn from the data recovered
indicated that each creature was born something else, possibly
not something too dissimilar to a normal human. However, through
genetic engineering, they had been transformed into the monstrosities
they were. Another important discovery was the existence of
what was classified as an AT-field, a form of defence field,
which was impenetrable to all but the most powerful of weapons.
Also, taken from the name of the world
that they first destroyed, they would be called the Angelis,
whilst the giant creatures themselves were called Angels.
It was to be several months before the enemy struck again,
though even by then, little had been achieved to counter their
AT-field.
Of all the hostile alien races humanity
had face. Internal struggles between people and planets. The
oncoming war was to be humanity's darkest hour since the conflict
and destruction caused by the original unification of Human
colonies into the Imperium by the Emperor of Mankind (See
ref. 'Birth of the Imperium' BIM.HS.004052/A).

END CHAPTER ONE
--------------------------
Appendix
Adeptus Mechanicus - An mysterious
and highly religious organisation which provide the Imperium
with it's engineers, scientist and such. The upper echelons
are formed of the Priesthood, who worship the Machine God
and believe that physical bodies only exist as a vessel for
knowledge.
Magos - Title given to those who have
mastered a technological achievement.
High Lords of Terra - Twelve of the
most powerful men in the galaxy, they rule the Imperium in
the name of the Emperor. These normally include the Fabricator
General from the Adeptus Mechanicus, an Inquisitorial representative,
Grand Master of the Officio Assassinorum, Master of the Administratum,
and many more.
The Emperor of Mankind - He who unified
humanity from a mass of squabbling, failing colonies into
the Imperium through his great crusade. Also the creator of
the Space Marines and their Primarchs. The most powerful and
common religion in the galaxy see the Emperor as their god.
The Emperor is alive even today, sustained by the arcane powers
of the Golden Throne, yet only his soul is still bound to
his body, for he has not risen or spoke since his ascension
over ten thousand years ago.
Daemons & Chaos - Vile monstrous
unnatural creatures that inhabit the warp. Their only goal
is the complete destruction or perversion of the material
universe. The force, which commands these Daemons, is better
known as Chaos.
Inquisition - Highly secretive organisation
who's agents safeguard the Imperium. The Ordo Xenoc investigate
alien threats. The Ordo Hereticus investigate heretics and
insurrectionist. And the Ordo Malleus hunts down Chaos worshippers
and Daemons. They possess unlimited authority, and no one
is above their reach.
Eldar - An enigmatic ancient alien
race who are not, upon sight, significantly different from
Humans. Yet the difference become more obvious in their inhuman
grace and even more alien minds. The Eldars are highly advance,
but lack in number. They have lived on giant spacecrafts called
Craftworlds ever since the fall of their once prosperous civilisation,
of which they do not speak off.
OMaKe 1:
Yui sat before the mirror in her quarters,
tentatively brushing her hair. She was quite naked to say
the least, save for the sheet of cloth wrapped around her
like a Toga.
"Gendo
can I ask you a question?"
she sudden spoke without turning around.
"Hmmmm
?" came a fairly uninterested
mumble from behind her.
"Does my bum look big in this?"
"Arggggg
.!!!!!"
OMaKe 2:
By now, despite being a grown woman, Yui was
almost to the point of tears. "How you do this to me!?
How could you of all people!?!"
"If it were
not me
then it
would have been someone else
I wound not see you harmed
"
he replied in a sombre tone of voice.
"Dammit Gendo! It didn't have to be this
way!! You could have told the High Lords! We could have
"
she clenched her eyes and fists in anger, "I
I
I hate you thrice damned lying son of a bitch!!!"
"Now Yui
"
"I hope you go and get yourself ass-raped
by some nasty little Daemon from the warp for eternity!"
"Yui! Such language
!"
"Yeah and you can go and %$@ yourself
and #$@# a progressive pike up your %$ and $$$ it around and
%^# --- Remaining parts censored due to the extreme nature
of the language contained --- ^%#"
By the time Yui was finished, Gendo was a
whimpering wreck of a man cry for his mommy on the floor of
the room. The other two Enforcers were already dead from their
heads spontaneously imploding.
OMaKe 3:
At this point the young Rouji stepped forth,
imitating his father's grin as much as possible. He seemed
to offer the girl a can of soft drink. To which the girl stared
at it for a while and then rudely snatched it from his hand,
immediately poured it in her mouth. At this point, the boy
burst into a giggle because it was actually filled with beer.
However, when he didn't hear any reaction, he opened his eye
and soon found that the girl had actually already finished
the can.
"Burrpppp
. Beerrrr goooodd
."
Commented the girl.
Tetsuya burst out laughing. "I see they're
going to get along just fine
"
