I found I could say things with color and shapes
that I couldn't say in any other way
— things that I had no words for.
-Georgia O'Keefe
Each month will feature a different color. The title "Color of Thought" refers to the notion that moods and idea seem to have an association with color. When an artist paints a picture, he or she may use a single color or color scheme to make you feel a particular emotion, such as bright reds might make you feel passion, or white, innocence, or dark colors, like blue and black, reflecting sadness or despair. In this first issue, it's basically a gimmick to spark enthusiasm (*nervous laughter*), but in the future I'd like to make it more of a theme.
Where to start... The idea for a 'zine came to me on June 13th, 1999 while I was working on my "other" website. At the time I had never seen or sought out any zine. I was a zine virgin; however, I soon popped that cherry, and realized that the idea of having people judge you on your creativity and the very essense of your soul seemed very appealing. While I am not particularly creative, and I also lack the ability to speak eloquently except for rare bursts of genius, I figured my main function would be to design a somewhat aesthetically pleasing site dedicated to the literary works of myself and others, and so if people really hate my work, at least I'll have the site design to fall back on. If that fails, at least I gave it a shot, and I'll pick up the pieces of my ego and try again another day. I'm sorry, are my weaknesses showing?
Please send me your work.
This is a small monthly zine. This means that
you can send me your stuff up to the last day of the month, and it will
probably make it in the new issue that I'll put up the next day. Ideally,
I'd like to have one or two short stories/essays, 9 or 10 poems, and 3
or 4 rants/ramblings in each issue.
