Ayanami, Rei
The First Child. Rei was involved with the conflict against the angels from quite possibly
the very beginning. Rei is not a very talkative person, and in the first few episodes it is said
that she is not very adept at living. Rei pilots Evangelion Unit 00, and she first appears in the series while severely
injured from a previous test in Evangelion Unit 00. During this test, something went horribly wrong, and Gendou rushed down to the tesing room floor
to see how Rei was. He put his hands on the scalding hot lever for the entry plug that Rei was inside of, and saved her. For this reason,
Rei likes Gendou and keeps a pair of his glasses that were broken while he was opening the entry plug. Asuka hates her for her quiet
dispostion, and she hates the color Red.
