Simon Hirsch Simon Hirsch Simon Hirsch is a 23 year old native of Seattle. Hirsch attended the Harry Wendlestedt School for Umpires in 2003 where he was selected to attend the PBUC clinic in Cocoa Beach, Fla. After working in the Arizona League for three weeks he recieved a promotion to the Northwest League. He worked with Many umpires in Arizona and in the Northwest League his partner was Shane Wright --- also a native Washingtonian. Hirsch said, "My favorite umpires to work with are those who like to have a good time while they work and take the game one pitch at a time. If you are so uptight that you can't smile during a game then when you get into a situation you will be flustered and not be able to handle yourself." Hirsch has recently graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Communication. This year is his fourth year with NBUA and first on the College list. This is also his first year on the training staff, but has previous training experiance with the Palouse Umpires Association. The staff is looking forward to working with him and to another great season for the NBUA.
