~~~~~1 hour later~~~~~
They had hooked up a ultrasound machine in the room and looked at the babies. The first one was still breached so the doctors tried to turn the baby by pushing and turning on Evelyn's stomach. It didn't seem to hurt her but it looked very painful. The doctors and nurses managed to turn the baby so it was now in the right position and at less of a risk.
"Ok, now what I need you to do is sit up and push your neck into your chest. I can feel the first baby's head. It is right here you just have to push. Once the first baby is out the other will come out a lot easier.
"I can't, I can't. It hurts so much. I am just so tired. I can't do it." Evelyn said as she layed back on the bed coverign her face with her hands, crying. I tried to think of a way I could help her. I got an idea so I helped her sit up and then got up into the bed behind her. I sat with my body pressed against hers so I would be using my strenght to help her push, more so then her own. I grabbed each of her hands and put my head on her shoulders so I could still see everything.
"Yes you can. You can do this. In a couple minutes Aiden and Maddy will be here. Do it for them, and do it for me." I said. She nodded, squeezed my hands and pushed her chin to her chest with every bit of strength she had left in her, as I pushed her body down towards the doctor.
"The head is out.....now the shoulders. It's a boy. Ok rest Evelyn. The hardest part is over with." The doctor said as we heard Aiden crying. No matter how long I would ever live I would never be able to explain how I felt at that moment. Evelyn was still holding on to my hands and I could feel her whole body relax as she leaned back on to me and wrapped my arms around her. I was careful not to hug her really close but I pulled her towards me and kissed the side of her head. After about another minute she sat back up and told the doctor that Maddy was coming. So we all got ready and as the doctor had said this time it didn't take nearly as much work for Evelyn before she came out. Again I was overwhelmed.
The doctors worked to clean the babies off and about 5 minutes later they brought them both over to us. They handed Maddy to me and Aiden to Evelyn. It was the greatest feeling in the world to hold my daughter in my arms.
"Are they alight?" Evelyn and I asked at the same time. The doctor laughed and walked over to us.
"Yes. They are perfectly healthy." He said as he patted Evelyn on the arm. "You did great." He said to her as he looked down at Aiden. "They are both very strong. The nurses need to take them down to the nursery to clean them off better and get them some clothes. But after they are checked over I am pretty sure they will be able to go home tomorrow."
"Ok, thank you so much." She said as two nurses came over nad took the babies. About an hour later they got everything cleaned up and I walked back to the room while they wheeled Evelyn back. By now it was about midnight and Evelyn was very tired so as soon as she got to her room and after being helped back into her bed she quickly fell asleep. After sitting with her for a while as she slept I went back into the waiting room to tell Ewan and Natalie, because I was sure Natalie was stressing out. But when I got to the waiting room I couldn't believe what I saw.
