| Chapter 16 (Hayden's POV) "Man is she pissed!" Justin said while Evelyn was back in the nursery. Justin and I were sitting in the livingroom in complete silence. To tell you the truth at first I wasn't mad at Justin, just upset that he didn't say anything. But more and more as I thought about it things just really didn't add up. "What the hell does that mean?" I asked him as I glared at him from across the room. "Come on. That whole thing this morning was rediculous. I thought I was helping." He said as he smiled at me. A very smug smile. Almost challenging. "That was what I thought too, but now I am not so sure." I said, the last part I said low enough for him to not hear it. "What was that?" He asked as he sat up and leaned toward me. "I said now I am not so sure." I said as I raised my voice so he would hear me. "Ohh, so now you are against me too?" He said as he stood up and started walking back and forth around the livingroom. "I don't know." I said quietly as I watched him pace back and forth. "What do you mean?" He asked as he stopped pacing and stood looking directly at me. "I don't exactly know what I mean. But you have changed. You are not the guy that I used to hang out with. Evelyn told me about what you said to her." I said as I sat motionless. "What?..What..did she say?" He asked. "She said that you went into the nursery and started into all this bullshit about you taking care of her and that still cared about her. What the hell is that all about?" I asked getting angry just thinking about it. Evelyn had told me about how much it had scared her the way he was acting and talking to her. "She...she is lying. She is the one that said that she should have came to me. Hayden you know that I stopped liking her a long time ago. I wouldn't do that to you." He said. His actions alone told me that he was lying. He was shaking, stuttering and couldn't look me in the eyes to save his life. "Well I just go all the conformation that I needed." I said as I stood up to go back to the bedroom. But as I walked past him he grabbed my arm and jerked me back around. The thing he wasn't expecting, though, was that I could fight back now. I had taken many defense classes training for Star Wars. As he grabbed my arm I quickly took a hold of his hand on my arm, ducked out of his hold and bent his arm back behind him. He managed to get out of my lock and turned aound and punched me, but I moved and his fist just barely grazed my cheek. I faked kicking him and when he tried to block my kick I punched him square inbetween the eyes. As soon as I pulled my hand back blood started pouring out of his nose. He put his hand to his nose and when he saw all of the blood he ran towards me. I moved around and when he ran past me I kicked his feet from under him and when he landed on the floor on his stomach I grabbed his arms and pulled his head up closer to mine. "Now, I think you are going to be leaving. It can be easy or I can make it painful as hell. Not only did you lie to me, but you fucked with my family, and that is as far is it goes. Consider yourself officially screwed. Don't ever talk to me, Evelyn, or come within contact of my kids or I will personally make sure I never have to do this again." I said as I threw him back onto the ground where he landed with a thud. When I looked up Evelyn was standing in the hallway. She looked terrified. I got up, allowing Justin the space to get up and leave. He stood up, blood running down from his nose onto his shirt. I walked over to where Evelyn was standing and as he walked over to leave I stepped in front of her. Justin walked by and looked at both of us before leaving. Nothing was said between Evelyn and I. She just stepped up closer behind me and wrapped her arms around me. I turned and hugged her. As I layed in bed that night watching her sleep, I couldn't sleep myself so I walked out into the livingroom, cleaned up the mess from the fight and went into the babies room. They looked so peacful as they slept. Their innosence is something that I would give anything to get back. |
