Chapter 5 Over the next 3 days we did nothing but go to the doctors, get everything straightened out with George and pack like crazy. We decided to just leave all the babies things here, except for some things we wanted to take, and get what other things we need over there. It would definatly be a lot easier for everyone. It was really exciting, though. I was never the kind of person to just spontaneously decide to go somewhere. Especially not Australia. Well except for when I left after finding out I was pregnant. Today we were leaving for the airport. It was going to take 20 hours to get to Australia, and I was really scared about flying. Once at the airport we got our luggage checked in and by the time we got to our terminal we still had about 45 minutes before the plane started boarding. So I went and bought a couple magazines and a few crossword puzzle books for the plane ride. I could tell that some people recognized Hayden because as I looked around I could see people staring at us and then whispering to whoever they were there with. Luckily nothing got out of hand. Other than a few autographs and pictures, no one really bothered us. "Are you all right, your hands are shaking like crazy." Hayden asked as he grabbed my hand and laced his fingers through mine. "Just nervous I guess." I said as I breathed in and out slowly. "You'll be fine, and I'll be right beside you the whole way. And hopefully these little ones wont decide to show early." He said as he gently rubbed my stomach. Hayden always knew what to say and what to do to calm my nerves when I was nervous. His hand on my stomach and the other holding mine sent a warmth through my body that settled my nerves and made everything else seem insignificant. "Flight 92 to Australia is now boarding." "That's us, you ready?" he asked as he we stud up. His hand never left mine. He knew that I needed something to hold onto and focus on instead of what was worrying me. We gave the lady our tickets and boarded the plane. He hadn't told me that we were going first class, but then again, I never asked him. It was a lot nicer than coach and more spacious which was good for my ever expanding body. We sat down and got comfortable. The first thing I did as soon as I got situated was put my seat belt on. "In a hurry much?" Hayden laughed "Don't make fun of me, you know I am terrified of planes, and I am going to be on one for 20 hours. You could say I'm a little scared." I said. After about 20 minutes the plane got clearance and started down the runway. I now knew that whatever was going to happen was going to happen, so I just held Hayden's hand and closed my eyes. Once we leveled out, Hayden got up and got our bags from the over head and found one of the magazines he bought and handed me one of mine. I had a hard time concentrating so I just sat back and looked out the window. It wasn't the height that bothered me, it was crashing that scared the hell out of me. We watched a couple movies. They were playing "Big Daddy" and "Wayne's World". After about 8 hours Hayden and I started talking about everything that happened once I left. He told me about working with Kevin Kline and about how in the movie he had to be mad but at the same time really sad , and he was so upset at me for leaving that he used that while making the movie. I told him about what the doctors have said and about living by myself. After a while though I started to get tired, but I had a hard time getting comfortable. "Ughh, these are definatly not made for a 8 1/2 month pregnant women carrying twins!" I said frustrated "Here, hold on." Hayden said as he slid to the seat beside him which no one was sitting in and pulled the arm rests up. He layed his blanket down on the seat and put my pillow on his lap. I layed down and tucked my feet up under my legs. "What would I do without you?" I said being much more comfortable now. "I don't know, but you won't ever have to find that out." He said as he pushed the hair out of my face and ran his fingers through my hair. "How are you going to go to sleep?" I asked "Don't worry about me. I'll have someone bring me another blanket and I'll be fine. Just as long as you are alright." He said. It had been dark for a couple of hours and besides a few lights on for people to read the plane was pretty dark. "Wake me up before we get there if I sleep that long." I said as I drifted in and out of sleep. "I will. Just rest. I love you!" He said "I love you too." |
