Chapter 7 "So how did you and Hayden meet?" Natalie asked once we exited the building where they were filming. "In high school. 9th grade to be exact. We were best friends. No one could come between us. We did everything together. We helped each other with our dates and eveything. He would tell me what to wear and things like that, and I would tell him what to do to impress his girlfriend and what not to say to upset her. We never really thought of each other more than friends, atleast I didn't. I'm not sure about Hayden." I said as we walked around the set, eventually ending up at Natalies villa. Her house was beautiful, very elegant. All the walls were a deep crimson, except for one that was white. The white wall was accented with beautiful floor to ceiling velvet crimson curtains that partially covered the windows facing a beautiful meadow. Everything in the room was clean. Beautiful, big white couches with little black pillows on them, that sat on either side of a huge black coffee table in the middle of the room that drew your eyes right to the huge firplace situated in the corner. A single mirror over the mantle, fit perfectly in with the elegance of the room. It almost took my breath away at how formal, yet cozy the room felt. If this was any indication of the rest of the houses, I couldn't wait to see mine and Hayden's. "When did you and Hayden finally start dating?" Natalie asked pulling me out of the trance I had been in. I turned around to see her standing in the kitchen trying to wash off all the make-up she had on. "That is the funny, but sad part. Our junior year we promised each other that if neither one of us had a date for our Junior/Senior Prom, four weeks prior to it, we would go together. Sure enough it came down to the four weeks and I was devistated. I didn't even go to school that day. I just layed in my bed all day and cried myself in and out of sleep. I thought for sure Hayden didn't want to go with me and I was an obligation that he never thought he would have to fulfill. Anyways, around 5:00 PM that night, while I was in my room just staring at the ceiling, hoping he had forgotten about the deal, someone knocked on my door. My mom came in and hugged me and told me to go downstairs, that someone was waiting for me. So I got up, and headed down the steps. About half way down I could see Hayden sitting on the couch, petting my cat. When he saw me, he stud up and walked over to the foot of the stairs where I was standing. He handed me a piece of paper and kissed me on the cheek and left." I said. In the middle of talking I had sat down at the kitchen table. I wasn't able to stand for too long anymore. The weight of the babies was really taking its toll on me. "What happened? What did the note say?" Natalie asked as she handed me a glass of 7up and sat in front of me. "The note said ' May 3rd is our night. Love Hayden'. It was so simple but very powerful. We went to the prom together and have been together ever since." I said as a smile crept over my lips just thinking about him. "That is so sweet. You two seem really close from what I have seen so far. You know he couldn't stop talking about you the whole time we filmed Episode II?" She asked "So I've heard. It's totally beyond me, though. I had left him. Without telling him or anyone, not even my parents. I'm suprised he doesn't hate me with a passion. I would hate me." I said, absent mindedly rubbing my belly. "Well he doesn't, and I don't see how he could. Your a very sweet." She said smiling. That smile that I had seen everytime I watched Star Wars. You couldn't help but like Natalie and she had this certain ablility to make you want to protect her. She seemed so vulnerable, yet strong at the same time. We talked some more about little things. About the babies, Natalie going to Harvard, working with all the famous actors she had. We instantly bonded, not just because our ages were so close, but because we both viewed a lot of things the same. |
