"Hair dye?" April took a deep breath in, "Yep, I'm blonde." Sam gagged, "Really? Wow, you'd look good as a blonde." April smiled and Sam leant his head to one side, "You know that's the first time I've seen you smile." April nodded, "Well, don't get use to it, I don't smile often." Sam tried to make eye contact, "I think you're prettier when you smile." April breathed out a plume of smoke, turned around to look at him then checked the door. She leant over to Sam and kissed him. He felt her soft lips push against his; he pushed her away, "What are you doing?" April was shocked, "What did you think? Last time I checked it was called kissing. Sorry, but when most guys call you pretty, that's usually what they want…and a little bit more." Sam shook his head, "That's taking advantage. Has anyone actually done that to you?" April sat back, "What you think I'm a virgin? No, haven't been since I was twelve. My parents were so stupid they thought me and…whoever was playing with Barbie and Ken." Sam laughed, "What's so funny?" April was confused, Sam regained composure. "Sorry, I can remember saying to my dad the same thing about me using drugs. I said literally the same words. I was twelve too." April looked down. "Do you see your dad often?" Sam felt a pang in his chest, "No, my dad died of cancer a few months ago. We were like you and your dad except I didn't live with him but I never really knew him and then we built this house together. Before it I was so like you." April gasped, "Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. There's me saying how I want to kill one of my parents and you'd kill for one of yours back." Sam sighed, "Don't worry about it. Last year I would have said the same as you but in the space of four months I went from hating my dad to loving him." April put her arm around Sam, "You don't have to talk about it, its okay." Sam wiped his eyes. "You know, you're alright I think it'll be okay living with you, if you don't make any more moves on me." April slapped his chest, "Hey that was a mistake!" They collapsed into laughter. "You see, this is the real you. You don't need to cover it up with your make up and hair dye." April blushed, "Maybe. I don't know who the real me is anymore." Sam hugged her, "You'll discover her soon." |
