Chapter 4 -The Change April and her dad had been living with Sam and his mum for a few months. Sam returned to the house and opened the front door. Throwing his keys at the table, he stood at the bottom of the stairs and called out, "April, you home?" He heard shuffling, "April?" "Yeah, I'm here. Don't come upstairs." Sam heard whispering, "Who's up there with you?" Sam began to worry; he started climbing the stairs, "Sam, stay downstairs." Sam ran into April's room, "April?" A blonde girl stood with her head upturned drying her hair. Sam froze, "Oh, hi Tina." "Hi honey." Sam spun, Tina stood in the doorway of the bathroom. "Tina. Who's…?" Sam glanced at the blonde who flicked her hair back. He was met with the blue eyes but this time they were unlined. "April? Oh my God you… your hair! It's bl…" April nodded. "Blonde, you like it?" Sam was gob smacked, he could only open and close his mouth. April smiled, "I'll take that as a yes." Sam strolled over to her and ran his hand through her blonde locks. "It looks great." The man smiled, causing his face to crease, "From the way you were watching her son, I'd think you thought it more than yeah s'pose." Sam thought to himself, did he? Didn't he? Sure she was pretty but did he fancy her? All of a sudden April came bounding up to him. "Sam! You won't believe it. I just got a date!" Sam was stunned but quickly regained composure. "Really? Cool. Who?" April pointed to a group of guys, one of which smiled and waved at her. "It's that one. Brett Warner. He goes to my new school." Sam bit his lip. She could do better than that guy; she could be with him. He shook his head, it couldn't happen. He didn't fancy her. He mustn't fancy her. She sparkled as she smiled back at Brett. Sam had to look away. Tina sat next to him and shivered, "God it's cold huh. I should have worn a coat." Sam put his arm around her, "That better?" Tina snuggled up with him, "Yeah, thanks." April strolled up to them, "Am I interrupting?" Sam shook his head, "Brett's asked me to go out tonight so you two can have the pizza between you. We're going to his mum's apartment."
