So we've arrived at our destination, Moon Palace. I felt such an adrenaline rush just arriving. O-kay, o-kay that's a bit of a stretch, but my persistence had paid off. I was at the Moon! Any way, on to the real trip report.
We paid the taxi driver $11 USD and tipped $2. Entered the beautiful, airy and busy lobby and front desk where we were greeted by a gorgeous Mexican woman who informed us that we were at the wrong place. She informed us that we had to go next door to the Moon Sunrise where our room awaited us. Well I don't know how you'd feel, but I was ready to accept the fact that my "player" ways had gotten us into a bad situation and that we were about to be led to a well, for lack of a more colorful expression, a dump! Well, I remained cool and hopeful as she instructed us to return to the lobby front, and catch the bus to the Sunrise (a bus?, oh dear). At that point, I turned to Tina and said, "I am so sorry, I don't know what I've gotten us into". Well, we went back to the front and found the "bus" which really wasn't bad at all. It was, in fact, a nice, clean air-conditioned van whose driver offered an arm as we climbed into the back of the vehicle and then placed our luggage in the back. We then proceed along the cobblestone street, bumpity, bumpity, bumpity - o-kay, enough is a 'nough!!! Get me to my room! We pull up in front of the Moon Sunrise, this Cookaracha place we're really afraid of at this point, we get out of the "bus", they carry our luggage to the front of a marble laden, open air entrance that sparkled. Where the heck are the Cookarachas? Why the heck is this place more elegant and gorgeous than the Moon (and they just kicked us out?). This is getting more and more strange.... are we at Fantasy Island; and by the way, where is Tatoo?
We arrived at the front desk, which was extremely long, and again asked for our room. They were waiting for us and as we checked-in, the Manager approached and presented us with two glasses of chilled champagne!! What a nice touch.
We were then escourted to our room which was brand new. We were the first to stay in it. While it was smaller that most hotel rooms I've stayed in, it was also much nicer. A beautiful, spacious marble, walk-in shower with seat, separate vanity, jacuzzi in the room, TV with movies channels, small refrigerator, comfortable beds with nice heavy sheets, balcony with ocean view room and a hammock! Very tasteful decor and overall, very, very nice.
