While in Newport we visited 3 of the many century old mansions that are on the island. The first one was the Breakers which was built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II for his family. This mansion was their summer "cottage". Their year-round home was in New York City and today is Bergdorf-Goodman department store. This was an unbelievably gorgeous place. I was completely awstruck.
