The Unknown Lands
This page is a listing of special rules partaining to the battle scenarios in the Unknown lands. You MUST play according to these scenarios for your battles to count in affecting the ranking of your army, and to win prizes. Feel free to choose whichever scenarios you want to play, you dont have to play them all, but it may certainly be worth the risk

Two special scenarios are included to encourage players to test thier skills. Special prizes will be awarded for the armies which fare best in either of these special scenarios, but wins and losses in these battles will not affect the overall ranking of your army for the grand, 1st, and 2nd place prizes.. Therefore, the Manticore hunting, and Skaven attack scenarios are available to any who wish to try them out.
Scenario 1: The Snow Plains
In this scenario, the newly ariving armies trudge through the barren featureless feilds of snow on thier way to woodlands of the interior to set up camps.

This scenario is played just like the "ambush scenario in the Warhammer Rule book, with the follwing exception: There is no terrain other than snow drifts. Following this restriction, players should also follow all the other rules for terrain generation specified in the Terrain genertor section of this scenario.

A Demon Shaman and  a Forest Shaman may be included in this battle, but it is not required.
Scenario 2: The Obsidian Spyres
The land has been twisted by the dark Shamen. Giant spikes of enchanted obsidian have been summoned fromt e bossom of the earth to enhance thier dark powers. If the demons are to be banished these black spyres must be captured and thier archane power dispelled.

For this scenario, the terrain generator will be modified so that only one black Spyre will be placed in the middle of the feild. To win the scenario, a wizard, shaman, or runesmith must be brought within 2" of the spyre for 2 complete turns. If two wizards are within 2" wait until one has been chased off or eliminated to start counting turns. If a second wizard (shaman runesmith) shows up in the middle of the countdown, then it will be reset, and the countdown will resume when only 1 is left withing 2" of the spyre. If all wizards (shamen runesmiths) are killed, then normal rules for victory in a pitched battle will be use to determine victory. If the Spyre is captured, it will add 500 vicotry points to the tally of the winner.

A Demon Shaman and A Forest Shaman must be included in this battle.
Scenario 3: The Ruins
The Demon Shamen of the land constructed shrines to Khorne during the brief period of thier war with the Hobbgobilns that was sucessfull. After each major victory spears and swords and armor of the fallen were melted down and cast into crude idols of Khorne, and anointed in blood. When the Hobbgoblins finaly overran the Shamen, they ransacked the shrines, and tore them down, but dark magic preserved the altars to Khorne inside.

The link between the Shamen and these shrines is unknown, but no ruined shrine is without a demon shaman to haunt it. Banishing magics will not work on them, as Khorn has placed his protection over the altars. The only way to exorcise the demons is to defeat them in open battle in the presence of the altar, and then renounce Khorne uppon the victory.

In this battle, the dark shaman forces will be given 50% less points than the side of the Forest Shaman (IE 1000 for the Dark Shaman, 2000 for the Forest Shaman). However, the side with a dark shaman will also be given the ruined shrine to place anywhere inside his or her deployment zone.  The Other side has 4 turns to get a unit of 5 or more models in base to base contact with the ruined shrine. The Shrine, if captured is worth 500 vicotry points. If it is not captured, it will confer those 500 points to its defenders

The last player on the battle field at the end is the winner. A Dark Shaman and a Forest Shaman must be included in this battle.
Scenario 4: The Sanguine Taint
As either side makes progress, the wrath of the Dark Shamen is unleashed on the land in a last attemt to rid the land of Volkaroth's Shamen and thier allies once and for all. Obsidian spikes thrust from the ground, and snow falls in feet at a time. The war has broken down to all out melee. There are no more objectives, at this point other than breaking and destroying the enemy.

This is a pitch battle. The full list may be used from the terrain generator from this point on. No special rules aplly to Khorne Shrines or black spyres, other than those listed in the terrain generator.

The Last player on the table wins, victory may also be achieved if the other player surrenders.

A Dark Shaman and a Forest Shaman may be used, but it is not required.
Special Scenario 1: The Hunt
Manticores abound in the Unknown lands. These solotary creatures harass any military force that attempts to encorach on the land. The plucked many Hobbgoblins from Hobgobbla's army, and would love to make a meal of your less protected flanks too.

The best way to prevent this is to track them down and stop them before they have a chance have a snack.

In this scenario a small band of elite troops led by a very valliant commander go out to hunt a manticore. The hunting party is made up of one hero level character and a selection of troops totaling, and is limited to 500 points. They face a manticore, and D6 harpies.

This battle will be played with the rules for Skirmishes from the warhammer rule book (Each modle acts as an independent unit, ect). There will be the following amendments to the structure:

The General/Hero will count as
stubborn.

The beasts have a natural dispell dice pool of 4, and the Manticore is considered
unbreakable.  If the manticore is slain, or left unconcious the battle is won, the harpies are of no consequence. (Use the profile for harpies from the dark elf army list).

The full list from the terrain generator maybe used for this battle. Dark Shaman and Forest Shamen are not allowed.
Special Scenario 2: SKAVEN ATACK!!!
Thats right folks, the scurge of the civilized world, Skab the Black, and his infamous band of brigands from Clan Felkric have been called by the Dark Shamen to the Unknown lands. Invading the land from the north, they have encountered no resistance in thier march south, as all the other armies are ariving from the west.

Now is your chance to be a hero! If no one impedes Skab's progress, he will surely overrun the entire region and claim it all for Skevendom. In the face of such peril, strange aliances shall be made, and dire tactics shall be employed. Do your best to stop him, Skab may be rightly feared, but he is mortal, and can be defeated.

In this scenario, a massive Skaven army, 3000-4000 points, will atack you. Of course, you will only be alowed the same points value as Skab's army. You will be given an extra 250 points for every race that participates against Skab's army. 2 races, 500 points, 3 races would get 750, and 4 (Oh, bother!) 1000 extra points!!! Vicotry will be awarded to the race that scores the most victory points after the battle is over (and that may only be Skaven in the event that they actualy win the battle) The Extra points and lord level characters must be devided up equally between the races fighting, and normal limitations on the number of characters, rare, and special units will be left in place (four races, 3000 points, only 2 lords guys!!!)

Just imagine the fame and glory you will achieve if you are the first to thwart this unstopable swarm of stinky brown fur!!! Remember guys, bragging rights = tons of honies!!! Lizardmen, ally with Dark Elves!!! Orcs take up arms along side High Elves!!! This may be the only hope you have of holding back the brown tide!!! Look at all these exclaimation points!!!

The full terrain list may be used for this battle, no special rules for terrain apply outside of those specified in the terrain generator  Dark Shamen and a Forest Shamen may be used, but are not required.
