LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - In an unusual move, the WB has announced it will pick up the family drama "Everwood" for a fall season commitment, mere days before its annual upfront. Typically, a network will announce its fall programming during its May upfront -- which creates a mood somewhat similar to the NFL draft where anxious producers sit by and wait to see if their shows get picked up. "Everwood" follows a famous brain surgeon (played by Treat Williams) who packs up his bags and leaves Manhattan after his wife dies and travels to a small Colorado town named Everwood. "It was a show that we were confident was going to be on the fall schedule," says WB entertainment president Jordan Levin. "It's an incredibly flexible piece -- it has numerous time slots that it can play in -- but most of all it came down to passion. It's simply one of the most moving, well-executed plots I've ever seen and I wanted to maintain the creative momentum of the project." |
