MY EVERYMAN'S LIBRARY

I started collecting the Everyman's Library after the
chance purchase of the 12 volume set of the Everyman's
Encyclopedia, I liked the size and look of the books,
they had a feeling of age and yet maintained their
condition well. Somewhere in that set I found
reference to this great work started by J.M. Dent
called the Everyman's Library - I had to, I couldn't
stop myself - I began collecting all 1000 volumes of
the Everyman's Library. At first it was very hit and
miss, I didn't know what works even made up the
complete set, I only had a few incomplete lists and I
posted these on the internet to help others doing the
same thing (that one page list has now become this
website). Eventually I made contact with a lovely
young lady in the UK called Rachel who sent me a new
copy (never sold) of a paperback published in the
1970's called The Readers Guide to the Everyman's
Library! Finally I had a complete list and I realised
just how big a task I had before me...

Now every town or city I visit is scanned for used
book shops, I attend most books fairs I can find, and
I have now grown my collect to over 200. I can spot a
volume from the library, with the cover I collect (on
each side of this text), from metres away and it has
even got to the point that my wife can pick them out
too (smelly old books she calls them!).
