The Good
Leave it to the guys in Fishbone to defy conventional wisdom with
their new live album. What other band would release their first live album
and instead of the usual "greatest hits", put all new songs on
it? For a band that has the reputation as an exceptional live act, it
seems strange to have a live album with only new songs on it. But
that is the beauty of this one.
The songs on this album really have a familiar vibe to them, even though they
are all brand new. The classic Fishbone sound is here with plenty of horns
and funky soul that should be expected from these guys. Listen to the horn
section on the first track, Skank n' Go Nutts. This song could be
straight off of Truth and Soul.
The Bad
The bad production on this is the only complaint I have. It is
better than a bootleg, but it is still muddy and not what this band deserves for
its first live album.
The Packaging
Some pictures and the track list. It would be nice to have the lyrics
since these are all new songs.
Bottom Line
Every old-school Fishbone fan should pick this up. The new songs are
a throw back to their late 80s sound.
