and welcome to my art web site "JoRo's Temple. I am Jose Rocha or EvilJoRo, as you can guess by now. I am an illustrator, specializing
in Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror. |
| It
all started way back in 1971 in a small village in what was, at the time
my parents current home. When I was three my parents, my self and my little
brother all moved to Canada and that is where my journey into the world
of art begins. At first it was just for fun, something I liked to do.
It was not long before my teachers noticed that I was very skilled for
some one so young, it turned out that I was some kind of child protegee.
As I got older I took classical art, art history and studied all the great
masters, like Leonardo Devinchi, Mona, Michel Anglo and so on. As a teenager
I discovered the work of a Fantasy artist named Boris Vallejo and that
was it, I was hooked in forever. During my brief time in college, I took
an introductory 1-yr. course in design. I became interested in RPG & AD&D
but it never when past a mild interest I was more focused on comics. After
a year and a half I had to drop out of college because I could no longer
afford to go any more, it was the hardest decision I ever had make in
my life, one that I regret to this day. |

Acting
on a tip from a friend I applied for a job at a local theater, a week
later the same friend called me and asked if I could do some promo work
for the same theater I applied to just the previous week. So I said
yes, and started work on promoting Tim Burton's: Nightmare Before Christmas,
which I won the 1993 Showmanship Award, by the way I did get a job at
that theater as an usher. A year later I did promo work for The Lion
King and won the 1994 Showmanship Award for promoting the movie. While
at the theater I spent most of my free time with a friend at the arcade
playing video games. That is were I came up with IMMORTAL KOMBAT the
video game, a parody on Mortal Kombat, then I changed it to IMMORTAL
KILLERS, it never got to be made into a game, so I reworked it and renamed
it REALM FIGHTERS the comic book. That was a no go, so now I had to
change it one more time and it is now called Dark Realms: The Immortals.

| But
my biggest hi-light was when I got to promote Spawn: The Movie by Todd
McFarlane, as part of the promo, on opening day I dress up as the clown
and got to get my picture taken with my comic book idol. But like Spawn,
I paid a heavy price for my moment of glory. Three days later, someone
in management betrayed me , someone that I considered a friend and ally.
My soul was ripped from me and I was forever touched by evil. It was during
this dark time in my life that Evil JoRo was created and my art took a
darker turn. |
| Today,
I do commission character drawings for people on the web, and run and
maintain an online store that sells my artwork on hi quality item. That
is about every thing, hope you enjoyed reading about me, the artist behind
