The Sports Nut in Me

Sports

Me and Javy at a baseball card show in Richmond!
I'm probably one of the few females around my age who enjoys sports. I've
taken lessons in the following: gymnastics, figure skating (including ice
dancing), basketball, softball, karate, swimming, and tennis.

Figure Skating
Paul Wylie
Figure skating is my favorite sport to both watch and participate in. I
took lessons back in middle school, but had to quit once I got to high
school because marching band got in the way. Paul Wylie is my
favorite
skater, and he has his own home page on the web! Scott Hamilton, Kurt Browning, Katia
Gordeeva (widow of the late Sergei Grinkov) and Kristi Yamaguchi
are some other
skaters that I love to watch. I was lucky to go
to the Philadelphia Spectrum in February of 1996 to see the production of
Stars on Ice. I went
with Matt (who
drove us there), Karen, Yvonne, Heather, and Julie. We had such a blast.
I hope to go again next year...

Baseball

I've been a huge fan of baseball for as long as I can remember. I used to
like the New York Mets, but that was when we lived in Parsippany, NJ. Now
I'm a big Atlanta
Braves fan.
(I liked them back in the day when Ron Gant, Terry Pendleton and "Neon"
Deion Sanders were there, so don't be thinking that I just decided to jump
on the bandwagon because they won the World Series in 1995.) My favorite
player is catcher Javier
Lopez. I MET JAVIER LOPEZ!!!!!! He was in Richmond for a baseball card show and I got to meet him! I could have died (in fact, I almost fell because I was so excited)! Here's an interesting fact: Javy
and I have the same birthday, only that he's a few years older. One of these days, he's going to give me a call and say that he wants to marry me, despite the fact that he has a wife and son! I'll just keep telling myself that...

Tennis
Me, Julie and Heather at the JDHS Tennis Banquet
My tennis buddies Heather and Julie got me into
tennis. Actually, I had watched it before and took lessons, but these two
really got me to enjoy the game more. Heather is a big Agassi fan, but
Julie and I go for Michael
Chang, who I call my brother because he and I have the same last name.
I also like Pete Sampras
a lot. Too bad he has a girlfriend though.
