   General Notes:

!He also lived in Campbelltown, Argyllshire, Scotland. He or his father fought in the Mammouth Rebellion in Scotland, which backfired and had to flee for his life. The family then went to Londonderry, Ulster, Ireland, which was British controlled. This William fought in the battle of Londonderry as Major and Lt. Col. in the British Army. He made application for land grants in Massachusetts for himself and two sons in 1718, but he died somewhere between that time and 1728. His two sons came on to America in 1728 settling first in Boston, then to Londonderry, Ulster, New Hampshire, and then to Cherry Valley, Otsego, New York. James, being the heir had 2,000 acres and erected the first grist and saw mill in Cherry Valley. His brother Samuel also had land holdings but on a smaller scale. These facts are in the English Army Records. See English army records. Some information says that this William married a McLean a cousin to his mothers side. No proof of this as yet. Samuel finally moved to a place called Mammakating, Ulster Co., New York. Where he died in 1780 and his children lived around him in Ulster and Orange Counties.
