Desktop Publishing

A resume is a document that is used to tell an employer about the work history and work abilities of a potential employee. Resumes can be used to seek employment of affiliation. Affiliation in the case of a nonprofit or non-commerce entity.

Evolution

The ability to create a Resume and email it to potential employers or organizations as well as post it to Web sites is a major innovation brought to the present era of technology. Resumes can be placed on private Web sites and reference using URL's (uniform resource locators "Web address") or they can be posted on Web sites that offer employment seeking services. Word processing and desktop publishing software allow developers to generate resumes swiftly offering templates (prefabricated digital documents that are formatted to a general standard accepted within the particular field of a document type).

Advantages

Creating a resume and distributing it in embedded in email or posted to a Web site allows developers to reach a wide selection of targets with their employment or affiliation objectives inexpensively. However not every company wants you to email them your resume nor does every employer or organization accept resumes unsolicited. Therefore in many instances it is preferred to stick with the tried and true method of asking the employer if they are hiring and if so how to go about submitting your "tangible resume" in person or by mail "snail mail".
