About the Group

Exhibit Furniture are a group of eleven people completing their final year of Furniture Design studies at Box Hill Institute in Melbourne's East.

The group is notable for its member's diverse educational, vocational and cultural background, complemented by an even gender balance and wide range of ages. Collectively the group has a strong art & design grounding, with a number of individuals bringing visual arts, architecture, landscape architecture and industrial design backgrounds to the mix. Others bring furniture dealing, restoration and construction expertise, bolstering the group's broad base of knowledge and experience.

Box Hill Institute's workshop based Furniture Design program has been developing designer - makers for more than a decade. It is among Melbourne's leading educational institutions for continuing to develop and support emerging designers and artists.

The workshop is located adjacent to parkland surrounding Mullum Mullum Creek in between Warrandyte and East Doncaster. This positions the facility at the doorstep of Melbourne's well established arts and craft community of the Yarra Valley, yet still able to participate in the city's vibrant urban culture. This distinctive setting reinforces a common bond within the group - they have chosen to develop their skills in a unique environment not offered by the other Melbourne based design schools.
