Elzie (Pokie) Webb

Elzie (Pokie) Webb, 77, Auxier, died Saturday morning in Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg. Mr. Webb was born June 9, 1898, in Martin County, a son of the late Andrew Jack and Mintie Scafe Webb. He was a retired miner and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Rachel Smith Webb; six sons, Elzie Jr. Webb, Roger Dean Webb, David Webb, Jimmy Webb, Frankie Webb, all of Auxier, and Elmon Webb of Elkhart, Ind.; 11 daughters, Mrs. Virgie Daniels, Mrs. Vonna Sue Ousley, Mrs. Betty Garrett, Mrs. Roberta Robinson, Mrs. Cora Greathouse, Mrs. Lilly Greathouse and Miss Cynthia Webb, all of Auxier, Mrs. Ruby Nichels, Mrs. Odel Flossie and Martha Lawrence, all of Kenton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Rowland of Fairborn, Ohio, Mrs. Luecrecie Clark of Paintsville, Ky.; a brother, Mr. Andew Webb of Van Lear., and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Freewill Baptist Church at Auxier by Ministers Mose Kitchen and Freddie Garrett. Burial will be in the Gable-Crider Cemetery at Auxier. The body has been taken from Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville to the residence of a daughter, Mrs. Bill Osbon of Auxier, where friends may call.

Elza Jr Webb

WEBB, Elza Jr. Age, 46, of Auxier, died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center. Born July 22, 1953, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Elza Webb Sr. and Rachel Smith Webb. He was an employee at Load Star Energy. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Diana Branham Webb, Other survivors include one son, Elza Webb Jr.; one daughter, Virginia Sue Webb of Auxier; four brothers, Roger Dean Webb of Bon Aire, Tennessee, David Webb and Frankie Webb, both of Auxier and Timmy Webb of Cleveland, Ohio; eight sisters, Martha Lawrence of Kenton Ohio, Cynthia Vickery of Van Lear, Virgie Daniels of Xenia, Ohio, Roberta Jett of Springfield, Ohio, Virginia Osborne and Cora Greathouse, both of Auxier, Betty Garrett of Betsy Layne, and Lilly Greathouse of Lakewood, Ohio. Burial will be in the Family Cemetery, Auxier.

Jackie Moore

Willard, Huron County, Ohio -- Jackie Moore, 56, of Willard, Ohio died Sunday, May 16, 1999, at Mercy Hospital,Willard, Ohio. He was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Floyd County, Ky., and lived most of his life in Willard, where he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He worked for R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co., Willard, for 30 years, and was a member of VFW, Moose, Eagles and Elks, all of Willard. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Moore, to whom he was married 34 years; one daughter, Melinda Kay Kannard of Detroit; three sisters, Myrtle Garman, Betty Hall and Violet Webb, all of Elkhart, Ind., Phyllis Green of Tennessee and Sharon Kershaw of Kentucky; and two brothers, Bennie Moore of Elkhart and Larry Moore of Lima, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lenze and Emma Moore; two brothers, Kelse and David Moore; and one sister, Ruby Akers. The Secor Funeral Home, 202 Maple St., Willard,Ohio is in charge of arrangements. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Church of the Nazarene, Willard, Ohio. The Rev. Mark Koch officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, New Haven, Ohio.

Jack Dye

Jack Dye, 83 of Shiloh, Richland Co. Ohio died Tuesday Jan.12 1999 at Med-Central Hospital in Shelby, Ohio after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 26, 1915, in Floyd County, Ky., son of the late Lawrence and Allie Dye. He had lived in Shiloh since 1961. He retired after working for 35 years as a coal miner in Kentucky and worked for Wiers Farm in Celeryville after moving to Ohio. Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Ethel (Gayheart) Dye. Daughter, Marlene Sword; Daughters and sons-in-law, Polly Lou and Joseph Lipps, and Judy and Don Guffy; Jackie Merle and Randy Bollinger; Sons: James Robert Dye and John Dye; Gregory Dye; Sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Kaye Dye and Willie and Freda Dye; Rodney and Glenda Dye; 28 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; brothers, Woodrow Dye, Hayes Dye and Kelly Dye, all of Kentucky; and a sister, Julie Caudill, of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by daughters, Freda and Ester; a baby boy; brothers, Kineal Dye, John Dye and Bill Dye; and a sister, Emma Moore. Hayes Dye

DYE, Hayes Age, 78, of McDowell, died Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, following an extended illness. Born on May 27, 1922, in Pike County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Allie Gearheart Dye. He was a disabled coal miner, a deacon and member of the Pilgrims Rest Old Regular Baptist Church at Price. He is survived by his wife, Margie Moore Dye. Other survivors include one son, Hubert Dye of McDowell; five daughters, Dina Ellen Dye of Columbus, Ohio, Valerie Kidd of Lebanon, Ohio, Nesba Keethler and Vanessa Neff, both of Columbus, Ohio, Elizabeth Meek of Boons Camp; two brothers, Woodrow Dye of Printer, Kelly Dye of McDowell; one sister, Julie Caudill of Ashtabula, Oho, 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 9, at 10 a.m., at the Pilgrims Rest Old Regular Baptist Church at Price, with ministers of Old Regular Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Orkney Cemetery, at McDowell, under the direction of Nelson-Frazier Funeral Home, Martin. Visitation will be at the church after 6 p.m., Wednesday. (FCT'S)

Melvin Webb, Jr.

Fort Wayne

Melvin Webb, Jr., 63, 444 Anna St, died at 10:40 p.m. Thursday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. The eldest brother of country music singers Loretta Lynn, CrystalGayle and Peggy Sue, he was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Van Lear, Kentucky., to Melvin "Ted" Webb Sr. and Clara Ramey Webb, both deceased. A Wabash resident for 43 years, Mr. Webb had been a machinist for Chrysler Corp., Kokomo, for 20 years. He married Bonnie Banks March 3,1938, in Paintsville, Kentucky. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Victor Lee Webb of Dickson, Tennessee, Ronald Gene Webb of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Melvin D. Webb, Roann; four daughters, Judy A. Hay, Mrs. Joe (Crystal) Yoder, and Mrs. Joe (Lisa)Gribben, all of Wabash, and Mrs. Berry (Pamela) Martin of Scottsbluff, Neb. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. Other survivors include three brothers: Herman Webb of Van Lear, Kentucky., Jack Webb of Nashville, Tenn ., Donald Webb of Wabash; four sisters, Mrs.Lynn of Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, and Mrs. Sonny (Peggy ) Wright, Mrs. Gene (Betty) Hopkins, and Mrs. Bill (Brenda) Gatzimos (Crystal Gayle), all of Nashville, Tennessee. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mr. Webb was a member of Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Eddingfield-DeLaughterMortuary, with the Rev. Cledies Holbrook officiating. Calling will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Falls Cemetery.
