Emergency Services Specialist O.C.C.  

  The Military maintains there own private Emergency Services units, including Police, Firefighters, Criminal Investigators, K-9 Teams and Search-and-rescue. The soldiers of the E.S.S. are trained to handle any emergency situation both on and off base. All are trained to function in a variety of roles, making them the ultimate Emergency Service personnel. Basic training begins with normal Infantryman combat training, but after the first 7 to 8 week coarse is complete they separate and enter E.S.S. training.

  E.S.S. training begins with Law Enforcement and Security, basic law and military rules of conduct. This includes the investigation of criminal activities and activities relates to espionage, treason and terrorism. Interviewing witnesses and questioning suspects, some using polygraphs machines (lie detectors). Guard duties of correctional facilities and conducting searches of inmates, cells and vehicles. Lastly training in the performance of riot control.

After the training in Law Enforcement and Security is complete the E.S.S. agent proceeds to General Police Procedures. Here the E.S.S. agent will be taught patrolling on foot, by car and by boat. Collection of fingerprints, and other evidence. Proper arresting techniques, Miranda (where applicable) and proper criminal charging procedures. They will also learn to walk and handle police dogs (k-9 units) and how to testify in court.

Lastly the E.S.S. Agent will learn Firefighter procedures. They will learn how to operate hoses, pumps and various fire extinguishers. Forced entry into aircraft, vehicles, buildings and room in order to fight fires and rescue personnel. Drive firefighting trucks and emergency rescue vehicles. Provide First Aid to injured personnel. Inspect Aircraft, buildings and equipment for fire hazards. Maintain firefighting and rescue equipment. Basic forensic procedures to determine source and cause of fires.  


Attribute Requirements: A high IQ. of 9 or better, and a M.E. of at least 10. A high PS. ands PE.. are helpful but not a requirement.

Physical Demands: Normal color vision, hearing, and a clear speaking voice are required to enter some specialties in this occupation. Firefighters have to climb ladders and stairs. They must also be able to lift and carry injured personnel.

Additional Equipment Available: Additional equipment and weapons are available upon request. Common additional equipment made available includes enhanced body armor, Humvee or other similar form of transportation. Various communications gear such as recording devices, scramblers, de-scramblers, etc. 

The character also has access to most military bases (medium level security clearance) and military doctors, hospitals and other facilities. 

Note: Availability of equipment and resources may depend upon the local commander; supply stock, location, casualties and combat condition. An E.S.S. agent is typically ranked medium-high on the priority list.

Money: The soldier gets a roof over their head, food, clothing, medical care and all other basic necessities are provided free of charge as part of their salary. The character also receives a monthly wage based on their current rank. Most characters start their military career with a few hundred dollars savings (1D6 x100). At base level (Corporal) the character earns $1,056.00 per month of service.

  E.S.S. quarters are a nice, dormitory style barracks. Twelve soldiers share one dormitory area. Each gets a small bedroom in a common area and a work desk a personnel computer. All share one bathroom, a sitting area, and a living room area. Or the soldier can opt to live off base at his or her own expense. 

Rank: All E.S.S. agents start field duty at a rank of corporal.
