Field
Mechanic O.C.C.
Their job involves a variety of areas of expertise including the
construction of trails, roads and field fortifications, such as bunkers,
shelters and gun emplacements. Erecting floating or prefabricated
bridges for troop movements. Erect camouflage and protective barriers
for artillery and troop positions. Load, unload and move supplies and
equipments using planes, helicopters, trucks and amphibious vehicles.
Construct airfields. Field Mechanics are responsible fir the maintenance
and repair of survival equipment such as flotation devices and
parachutes. They must be able to make field repairs on a moment’s
notice, so they are trained in the operation of machinist equipment,
allowing them to make gears, shafts and general equipment near the
frontline of the battle.
Due to the heavy amount of training the Field Mechanics are
exposed too they are often classed as non-combatants, although they do
go through the same basic training and survival training as all military
personnel. The Field Mechanic is often kept out of harms way until
absolutely necessary, and even then they are assigned a Infantryman as
guard before heading out into the battlefield. Field Mechanics are among
the most important field operative the Military possesses, as such a
great deal of emphasis is placed on their safety, if captured a
commander will expend a great deal of manpower to secure the Field
Mechanics safe return. Attribute
Requirements:
I.Q. of 9 or better, a P.P. of 10 or higher and a high P.S. is very
helpful, but not required. Physical Demands: Field Mechanics must meet very demanding physical requirements such as colour vision and the ability to lift heavy objects. They need to be able to perform strenuous physical activities over long periods of time. Field Mechanics must be able to lift and move heavy objects. Some specialists require good swimming abilities,
Hand
To Hand:
Basic can be upgraded to expert at the cost of 2 other skills. To change
to martial arts (or assassin if evil) cost 4 other skills. O.C.C.
Related Skills:
Select four other skills, plus two additional skills at level 4 and 8.
Select one other skill at levels 10 and 12. All new skills start at
first level proficiency.
Secondary Skills: The character also gets to select two secondary skills from the list, excluding those marker ‘none or only’, at level two, four, seven, ten and thirteen. These are additional areas of knowledge that do not receive the advantage of the bonuses listed in the parenthesis. All new skills start at first level proficiency.
Additional
Equipment Available:
Additional equipment and weapons are available upon request. Common
additional equipment made available includes enhanced body armor, Humvee
or other similar form of transportation. As well as various construction
gear such as sensors, equipment and tools and replacement parts.
The character also has access to most military bases (medium
level security clearance) and military doctors, hospitals and other
facilities. Note:
Availability of equipment and resources may depend upon the local
commander; supply stock, location, casualties and combat condition. The
Field Mechanic is typically in the middle of the priority list; however
gaining favor with a base commander of supply clerk could help speed up
the equipment ordering process. Money:
The soldier gets a roof over their head, food, clothing, medical care
and all other basic necessities are provided free of charge as part of
their salary. The character also receives a monthly wage based on their
current rank. Most characters start their military career with a few
hundred dollars savings (1D4 x100). At base level (Private) the
character earns $957.60 per month of service.
Field Mechanics quarters are a nice, dormitory style barracks.
Ten soldiers share (of various O.C.C.’s) one dormitory area. Each gets
a small bedroom in a common area and a work desk a personnel computer.
All share one bathroom, a sitting area, and a living room area. Or the
soldier can opt to live off base at his or her own expense.
