General Electric 45mm Very Heavy Assault Cannon

The General Electric Very Heavy Assault Cannon, better known as the VHAC, is perhaps the single deadliest cannon available to the Exo pilot. The familiar image of the VHAC is a moral booster for friendly troops and a bad omen to the enemy. The VHAC uses an air-cooled General Electric motor to spin six-heat treated barrels at a very high rate. The VHAC is able to flood an area with hundreds of bullets in an incredibly short amount of time, what it lacks in accuracy it make up for in sheer volume. The VHAC is marketed as an Anti-Exo and Tank weapon, however it serves relatively well as a short-range anti-Aircraft weapon. On several occasions it has been used to defend friendly targets from incoming missiles, aircraft and helicopters, as well as Tanks, Exo’s and Infantrymen.  If the VHAC has any drawbacks at all it is that the gun is an ammunition hungry weapon, able to exhaust its ammo drum in no time at all. Most field commanders have solved this by allowing the unit to be serviced by a lighter Exo carrying additional ammunition. Alliance commanders often arm the VHAC on Heavy Exo’s such as the Tiger while Scout-Recon Exo’s like the Puma carry extra ammo and defend the heavier unit from attack.
