General
Electric Vibro-Blade
|
During the manufacturing of the armored skins of the Exo’s under
developed it became necessary to retool many production facilities
to handle the hardened materials. General Electric added high
frequency vibration-saws to its production line to cut the desired
shapes out of the armored sheets delivered to them. The
vibration-saw makes very quick work of the process, faster then
even spot laser cutters. While touring the facility a member of
General Electrics weapons design teams saw the vibration-saw at
work and it struck her that the tool could be adapted into a
weapon. After 7 months of design and testing, General Electric
presented 3 new melee type weapons to the military. Basing there
new technology on the fact that at some point the Exo’s would
invariable encounter hand to hand combat situation, they should be
provided with as much of an advantage as possible. The Vibro-Blade
was the first of the three new weapons to be presented. The blade
was marketed as half tool and half weapon. The blade could be used
to sabotage equipment, cut through walls, trees and other
obstacles as well as damage even the hardest of military armors.
The military committee evaluating the technology was so impressed
that they order enough of the vibro-weapons to equip at least one
to every field Exo in the army!
