Locate objectives are a diverse group of missions, similar in limitless possibilities as the destroy objectives are. However the key item with 'locate' objectives is to find the item or person and return, alive, with that information back to your starting point or meeting place. Locate objectives can take longer then other campaign subplots because those items you are sent to locate may be in motion. As well they may be more challenging, requiring you to track the target without letting anyone know your are there.

Enemy Forces: You are ordered to locate a group of enemy troops and report on their location, strength, numbers, equipment, weapons, etc. It is vital for further mission planning that you be as quick and accurate as possible. You must gather the intelligence quickly and fully. However the key to success in this mission is returning the information as quickly as possible so that further action can be taken before the enemy moves again and is lost. Time is of the essence.

Double-Agent/Spy: Your mission is to discover the identity of a traitor and or double agent. The person you are after is providing key information to the enemy. You have been assigned to plug this leak. However the mission can be much more complex then simply silencing a leak, you could be assigned the task of determining how the traitor is passing his or her information to the enemy. Then you could use this means to feed misinformation to the enemy.

Personnel (AWOL-Missing): You have been assigned the task of tracking down a missing or AWOL person. You may belong to the Military Police, a squad looking after its own, or maybe you are a private detective charged with the task of locating a kidnapped or missing person. The successful completion of the mission will be the safe return of the missing or AWOL person. In the even that the person is kidnapped (or other criminal activity) the mission might end when the ransom money is recovered or the kidnapper (s) are brought to justice.

Terrorists: You job is to locate and isolate an active terrorist, terrorist organization or cell. You must stop them before they have a chance to strike. Your mission is automatically given at least a medium-high status and equipment will be allocated accordingly. The mission will be considered a success if the terrorist (s) are stopped, or if they are arrested and turned over to the proper authorities for trial. In cases involving the justice system it is also important to collect evidence of the crime as well as not violating the criminals human/civil rights. After all such violations or lack of evidence could mean the go free and your mission will be for naught.

Reserve Supplies: You must locate hidden supplies and equipment to re-supply your team. You may have been sent out alone, or as a team. Whatever the arrangement you must locate, recover and return with the supplies to re-equip you allies before it’s too late. In military terms this means hidden weapons, fuel, medicine, and equipment. Civilians might need to recover hidden documents and clothes in order to switch identities and avoid capture.

Vehicles: Your job is to track down and locate a specific vehicle. Your mission may mean locating a covert surveillance truck, chemical weapons transport or other high value target. Or as a police officer you might be charged with locating a stolen car or vehicle used in a hit and run accident (or murder investigation).
