STT-109
'Spear Fish' Sub-Fighter Tactical Torpedo
|
The Spearfish is a tactical
assault torpedo designed as a one-shot-one-kill capital ship
torpedo. The vessel carrying it simply lines up the shot and makes
a strafing run. Although the Spearfish has a large range, a
staffing attack is preferred since it minimizes the chances of the
enemy vessel destroying or decoying the incoming weapon. The
typical warhead if the Spearfish is a shaped charge explosive,
however other warheads are available including biological and
chemical weapons. Although they are very rarely used since both
are ineffectual underwater, and can 'backfire' if carried away by
the current.
