PROPOSED: That the SPOTTED TABBY PATTERN be changed.
CURRENT: Markings on the body to be dense,
clearly defined and distinctly spotted. Spots may vary in size or shape with
preference given to round, evenly distributed spots. Ideally, body spots should
not run together in a broken mackerel line pattern, but should subtly suggest a
classic pattern, a spot encircled by spots. A dorsal stripe stripe runs the
length of the body to the tip of the tail. The dorsal stripe is ideally
composed of spots with alternating horizontal brushstokes and spots on the
tail. There is an intricate "M" on the forehead, with markings extending over
the head between the ears and breaking into spots on the lower neck and
shoulders. An unbroken line runs back from the outer corner of the eye. Swirls
on the cheeks. Spots are scattered along the front shoulders and hind quarters
extending as far as possible down the legs with broken bracelets further down
on the lower legs and broken necklaces at the throat, the more broken the
better. Buttons on the belly desirable.
PROPOSED: Markings on the body to be dense, clearly
defined and distinctly spotted. Spots may vary in size or shape. Body spots may
subtly suggest a mackerel or classic pattern but may not be connected and
preference given to spots in a random pattern. A dorsal stripe may run down the
length of the body to the tip of the tail. Preference given to a dorsal stripe
composed of spots with alternating horizontal "brush strokes." Tail may be
barred with preference given to spots. There is an intricate tabby "M" on the
forhead, with marking extending over the head between the ears and breaking
into spots on the lower neck and shoulders. An unbroken line runs back from the
outer corner of the eye. Swirls on cheeks. Spots are scattered along the front
shoulders and hind quarters extending as far as possible down the legs with
broekn bracelets further down on the lower legs and broken necklaces at the
throat, the more broken the better. Buttons on belly desireable.
RATIONALE: The PROPOSED Spotted Tabby Pattern
more accurately describes the Spotted Tabby.

RATIONALE: When this division was divided in
the Persian standard, our tabby & white numbers, the Board felt, was not
substantial enough to divide our standard as well, even though it passed at the
BC level. There has been a large increase in the Tabby & White Exotics
shown since our first attempt to split these color classes. This past show
season there were in excess of 300 Tabby & White Exotics shown. (100+ Red
Tabby & White, 100+ Brown Tabby & White, 40+ Patched Tabby & White,
and 75+ Other Tabby & White) We feel these numbers are now substantial
enough to divide them into the same divisions as the Persian Standard.

3. PROPOSED: Change the COAT
description to read as follows:
COAT: dense, plush, soft and
full of life. Standing out from the body due to a rich, thick undercoat. Medium
in length. Acceptable length depends on proper undercoat. Cats with a ruff or
tail feathers (long hair on tail) shall be transferred to AOV class.
Allowances should be made for seasonal coat variations.
RATIONALE: Exotics experience a lack of dense
undercoat during the summer months AND as early as spring. They can exhibit
less undercoat density during this time and should not be penalized for natural
occurances. We feel some allowances should be made for this as with some of the
other longhair breeds.
