The Caulfields lived in a tall
building on 71st and Fifth,
which would be right behind the tall white building in view here.
It is just west of a swanky area.
Holden looked for Phoebe by the
band shell
(offsite link: http://www.centralpark.org/tour/15Z.html),
which is directly west of 71st street. They went to the zoo at the
end of the book.
