Fireworks are widely used, and each year thousands of people are injured because of the fireworks. In U-countries, fireworks are produced by hand, Imagine Sitting in a mess of Gunpowder, and some really reactive metals. That is really dangerous, partly because some extremely reactive metals which react with the oxygen in the air really quickly, so if you would get the metal on your skin, and it is wet, it would begin to react with your skin. Thus Fireworks cause a lot of problems for only a couple of minutes of entertainment… Thousands of people die, because of, the fact that they accidentally touched some kind of really reactive metal.

Not only when producing fireworks, does an accident occur, but they occur mostly when using them.

E.g. My friend in India, and was firing a “knatterband”, which is a firework piece which has many small crackers attached with it, so as soon as one “explodes” the others follow, and explodes one after one. Well, the fuse was very long, though the fire which was turn on in the fuse traveled really quickly, and the “knatterband” began exploding within a second or two. He was really injured and was sent to the hospital. Thus Firework cause a lot of problems, all over the world, even though its entertainment for a couple of minutes.

The color of the firework depends on the reactivity of the metal used. The colors come from the 7 rainbow colors.

E.g.

 

Red

Orange

Yellow

Green

Blue

Indigo

Violet

The lower down the color is, the more reactive metal is used.

E.g. We tried putting some metals on fire, and testing which color each metal gave.
